Billy becomes Wiccan, a magician with reality-altering abilities; Tommy becomes Speed, a super-speed hero. The brothers later reunite through the Young Avengers. This comic-book backstory is distinct from what WandaVision establishes on screen.
How Wanda and Vision’s twins begin in the comics
Marvel’s official Wiccan and Speed reading guide describes the twins as created through magic. While married to Vision, Wanda uses her reality-altering hex powers and magic to become pregnant with twins. Their life together as a family is brief.
Marvel’s summary says the twins’ spirits are later reincarnated as Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd, who are born to unrelated parents. The official Wiccan character profile likewise identifies Billy as the reincarnation of one of Scarlet Witch and Vision’s twins. The official summaries establish that broad account, but do not spell out every event or metaphysical detail behind the twins’ disappearance and later lives.
What powers do Billy and Tommy have?
| Character | Hero identity | Power |
|---|---|---|
| Billy Kaplan | Wiccan | Magic and reality alteration associated with the abilities he inherited from Wanda. Marvel describes him as a young magician. His first hero name was Asgardian before he became known as Wiccan. |
| Tommy Shepherd | Speed | Super-speed comparable to that of Wanda’s twin brother Pietro Maximoff, better known as Quicksilver. |
These are different abilities: Billy’s power is magical and reality-altering, while Tommy’s is super-speed. Being twins does not mean they share the same powers. Marvel’s Wiccan reading guide and character profile describe Billy’s abilities; its Young Avengers overview describes Tommy’s speed.

How the twins become Wiccan and Speed
Billy and Tommy grow up in separate families as Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd. They reconnect as members of the Young Avengers, rather than returning to the original Wanda-and-Vision household.
Billy is part of the team’s first lineup, alongside Iron Lad, Patriot, Hulkling, Hawkeye, and Stature. Later, the team finds Tommy in detention and recruits him after noticing his resemblance to Wiccan. Marvel recounts these connections in its Wiccan and Speed guide and Young Avengers overview.

How the comics’ story relates to WandaVision
WandaVision introduces Billy and Tommy in a story that draws on the comics’ Wanda-and-Vision twins. In the comics, Wiccan and Speed are later identified as reincarnations of those magically created children. That is the useful distinction: the comic summaries explain the twins’ later identities and reincarnation, while the sources cited here do not establish a scene-by-scene comparison with the series or what future MCU stories will do.
