ANYCOLOR terminated NIJISANJI EN VTuber Selen Tatsuki’s contract effective immediately on February 5, 2024. The company cited alleged contract and activity-rule violations, misleading social-media statements, and a music video released without required permissions. Two days later, an investor notice described the expected business impact as “negligible,” drawing further criticism. CEO Riku Tazumi apologized for that wording on February 13 and acknowledged Selen’s importance to NIJISANJI EN. Those explanations are the company’s public account; the available reporting does not independently establish the disputed allegations or reveal the full private cause of the breakdown.
Why was Selen Tatsuki terminated from Nijisanji?
ANYCOLOR, the company behind NIJISANJI, announced on February 5, 2024 that it was ending Selen Tatsuki’s contract with NIJISANJI EN effective immediately. Its stated grounds included repeated contract and activity-rule violations, social-media statements it characterized as misleading, and the release of a music video without the necessary permissions. The company also said its attempts to contact her had not resolved the situation. Anime Trending’s February 5, 2024 report summarized the company’s announcement.

ANYCOLOR’s notice also said Selen had contacted the company through legal counsel about continuing activities amid management decisions and harassment by affiliated livers. This, like the company’s stated termination grounds, is an account attributed to ANYCOLOR—not an independently verified finding or a court ruling. The public sources do not establish the full circumstances behind the contract breakdown, the details of the alleged harassment, or the complete health-related context. Online speculation cannot fill those gaps.

| February 13, 2024 | CEO Riku Tazumi published an English-language video response. He apologized for the investor notice’s wording, recognized that it had made fans feel Selen and her contribution were undervalued, and addressed criticism about talent wellbeing and support. ITmedia NEWS, February 13, 2024. |
Why did the “negligible” statement upset fans?
The investor notice described the termination in terms of its expected impact on company performance. For many fans, that framing appeared to reduce a high-profile talent’s departure to a minor business consequence. The reaction was not only about the end of Selen’s contract; it also reflected concerns about how the company treated and supported its talents.

Tazumi later acknowledged the effect of the wording. In the English transcript of his February 13 video, he said, “We made it sound like our company does not value the hard work of our Livers.” He also said, “Without a doubt Selen was integral to the growth of NIJISANJI EN.” ITmedia NEWS’s transcript records those statements. His apology is evidence that he regretted the communication and understood why fans felt Selen’s contribution had been minimized; it does not by itself prove every broader criticism about the company’s internal practices.

Tazumi said the company would create new internal systems to support livers’ wellbeing and improve reporting systems so problems could be identified and addressed more quickly. He also said, “Our Livers are irreplaceable, each and every one of them.” These were commitments stated in the video. The cited reporting does not establish whether the measures were implemented or how effective they were.
What is—and is not—established?
- Established: ANYCOLOR announced the immediate termination on February 5, 2024 and publicly gave reasons for it.
- Attributed, not independently proven: The alleged violations, misleading statements, music-video permissions issue, and circumstances described by ANYCOLOR.
- Established: The company’s February 7 investor notice used the word “negligible” for the expected business impact, and Tazumi apologized for the wording on February 13.
- Not established by the cited public reporting: The complete private account of the dispute, the full circumstances behind the allegations, or whether the promised internal measures were implemented successfully.
ANYCOLOR’s November 15, 2024 statement about an external-creator rights-infringement matter concerns a separate issue. The company said multiple people were victims in that matter; it should not be treated as evidence about the reasons for Selen’s termination.
