Nothing official has cancelled xXx 4, but nothing official has confirmed it is moving forward either. The most recent studio announcement about the sequel dates to April 2018. The most recent public comment, from co-star Ruby Rose in December 2024, was that she had not heard anything. A 2026 production-database entry labels the film “Completed,” but that status has not been backed by a studio statement, so it should be read as an unconfirmed listing.
What Ruby Rose actually said
Rose, who appeared in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, was asked about the sequel in a ScreenRant interview reported in December 2024. Her answer was a joke about how little she had heard: “I haven’t heard anything. I haven’t heard anything since 1974,” she said, laughing. She added that she did not know what was happening and hoped to work with the cast and crew again.
She also guessed that Vin Diesel might be busy with Fast & Furious. That was her speculation, not an explanation from the filmmakers or the studio. Her remark reflects what she knew at the time of the interview. It is a lack-of-news update, not a statement that the movie has been cancelled.
What was announced in 2018
On April 17, 2018, Revolution Studios announced that The H Collective had acquired rights to the franchise, working with Vin Diesel and One Race Films. The announcement said xXx 4 was slated to begin production in December 2018, with Diesel starring and producing and D.J. Caruso returning as director.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That was a plan, and the announcement does not show that filming started on schedule or that the same creative team is still attached. The press release also quoted The H Collective CEO Nic Crawley: “During my time at Paramount I was lucky to be involved in the development and distribution of xXx: Return of Xander Cage.” That line is background on the company’s history with the franchise, not a status update.
Revolution Studios describes xXx: Return of Xander Cage as the franchise’s third chapter, directed by Caruso and starring Diesel, Rose, Donnie Yen, Deepika Padukone, and others. It is the film the sequel would follow.

The 2026 production-database entry
The Production List, published by the Film & Television Industry Alliance, labels XXX4 “Completed” and says production was completed as of April 28, 2026. The listing was last updated on that date, says the project had been scheduled to shoot in Los Angeles in December 2018, and gives no official release date.
That entry conflicts with years of public silence about the project. It does not say when filming took place, whether a finished cut exists, or who issued the information. Without a studio announcement or a distributor’s release date to back it up, it is a database status, not a confirmed production milestone.

What would change the picture
The 2018 target has passed without a public release date, and nothing reviewed for this article confirms that filming began as planned. Reliable confirmation would most likely come from one of the following:
- An official statement from Revolution Studios, The H Collective, or Vin Diesel naming a production or release status.
- A distributor announcing a release date or a title for the film.
- Trade reporting that identifies a shoot, a crew, or a completed cut, cited to people involved in the production.
- An updated official entry in the production database that is matched by one of the above.
Until one of those appears, the accurate position is that xXx 4 has a 2018 plan, an uncorroborated 2026 “Completed” label, and no confirmed schedule.
