Asta Jonasson, who said she worked as Vin Diesel’s assistant, filed a civil lawsuit in December 2023 alleging that he sexually assaulted her in Atlanta in 2010 and that she was fired hours later. Diesel’s attorney categorically denied the claim. A Los Angeles judge dismissed the case in November 2025 on legal grounds involving the alleged incident’s location and the application of California law; Jonasson filed a notice of appeal in February 2026. The dismissal was not a finding that the alleged conduct did or did not occur.
What did the lawsuit allege?
According to the Associated Press’s account of the complaint, Jonasson said she was working for Diesel in Atlanta during production of Fast Five in 2010. The complaint alleged that Diesel forced himself on her in a hotel suite and that his sister, Samantha Vincent, called to end Jonasson’s employment hours afterward. These are allegations in the complaint, not established facts. Associated Press

How did Vin Diesel respond?
Diesel’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, said: “Let me be very clear: Vin Diesel categorically denies this claim in its entirety.” The AP also reported Freedman’s statement that this was the first Diesel had heard of a claim concerning an employee of nine days, and that there was evidence refuting the allegations. Those are the defense’s statements, not findings by a court. Associated Press

Jonasson’s attorney, Claire-Lise Kutlay, said the lawsuit sought to hold Diesel and those alleged to have allowed or covered up the assault accountable. Kutlay also said: “Employers must protect and defend people when they speak up about sexual assault and harassment.” These statements present Jonasson’s side’s position; they are not judicial findings. Why was the case dismissed?
A Los Angeles judge dismissed the case in November 2025. The Los Angeles Times reported that the judge concluded California law could not be applied to an alleged incident in Georgia. The dismissal was therefore reported as a legal ruling about the applicable law, not as a determination of whether the alleged assault occurred. Los Angeles Times

Diesel’s attorney said the defense was grateful the court had ended what he called a meritless lawsuit. That characterization was the attorney’s view; it should not be confused with the reported legal basis for the dismissal. Los Angeles Times

An appeal notice begins appellate proceedings; it is not itself a reversal or a ruling on the merits. The reported trial-court dismissal remains distinct from any eventual appellate decision.
