The Venom: The Last Dance trailer sets up a chase, a looming choice and a string of comic-book-scale surprises. Sony billed the 2024 film as the final entry in Eddie Brock and Venom’s trilogy, while the footage teases trouble from both their worlds without spelling out the full story.
What the Venom: The Last Dance trailer promises
Sony’s official synopsis gives the central premise: “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.” That is the studio’s framing, not a scene-by-scene plot summary.
The official trailer description calls the movie “the final film in the trilogy.” That makes The Last Dance the marketed conclusion of this three-film run, though the trailer’s promise of an ending does not resolve every question raised by its imagery.
What the footage teases—and what it doesn’t
In its June 4, 2024 trailer report, Variety described footage featuring government agents, a large symbiote alien and a horse transformed by Venom. Those moments convey the trailer’s heightened, sometimes offbeat spectacle; they should be read as glimpses, not as a complete account of the film’s plot.

- In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel?s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.
The promotional contrast is part of the hook: Eddie and Venom are fugitives, yet their predicament is presented alongside outsized alien threats and an unexpected animal transformation. The trailer suggests a final chapter built around both the duo’s pursuit and the decision Sony’s synopsis says they must face.
Who made the film?
Kelly Marcel directed Venom: The Last Dance and wrote the screenplay, based on a story by Marcel and Tom Hardy, according to Sony Pictures’ film page. Hardy returns as Eddie Brock and Venom. Sony’s listed cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu and Alanna Ubach.

Netflix Tudum’s February 26, 2025 explainer supplies additional role details: Temple plays Dr. Teddy Paine, Ejiofor plays Rex Strickland, Ifans plays Martin, Graham plays Detective Patrick Mulligan, Lu plays Mrs. Chen and Ubach plays Nova. It also identifies Clark Backo as Sadie and Andy Serkis as Knull. Tudum says the film draws on Marvel’s Venom comics and names Mexico, Las Vegas and New York among its settings.
