What happens at the end of Venom: The Last Dance?
Venom gives himself up to destroy the immediate symbiote threat and prevent Knull from using the codex to escape his imprisonment. Eddie survives, but Venom is gone, leaving Eddie to continue alone in New York. The film presents the act as a sacrifice, not a confirmed survival or reunion.
Sony describes the movie as the final film in the Venom trilogy, and its official synopsis frames Eddie and Venom as being pursued by forces from both their worlds and facing a devastating decision: Sony Pictures’ Venom: The Last Dance page. Writer-director Kelly Marcel said the filmmakers had always understood this as the conclusion and built toward a three-film arc.
Why does Venom’s sacrifice matter?
Venom’s choice completes the emotional promise of the trilogy: he chooses Eddie and the wider world over his own survival. Marcel described the farewell as “a love lost at the end.” She clarified that she did not necessarily mean romantic love; she meant two characters who care deeply for one another but cannot have an ordinary life together. Marcel’s October 24, 2024 interview with Den of Geek discusses both the ending and the trilogy’s intended arc.

Who is Knull, and what does the mid-credits scene mean?
Knull is the symbiote warlord introduced earlier in the movie. The mid-credits scene returns to him after Venom’s sacrifice, with Knull addressing the audience. Unlike the final credits image, this is an explicit signal that the larger threat has not been erased. TheWrap likewise reads the scene as positioning Knull as a major threat for Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent films: TheWrap’s explanation of the credits scenes.
Marcel called the appearance “just a little introduction” and “just a little taster.” In her October 2024 interview, she said there were plans for future Knull movies. That is her statement at the time, not confirmation of a specific film, production schedule, or release date. For comics context separate from what the movie establishes, Knull first appeared in Venom #3 in 2018, created by writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman; the King in Black storyline is another relevant comics path.

Does Venom: The Last Dance have post-credits scenes?
Yes. There is a mid-credits scene featuring Knull and a later post-credits scene. TheWrap confirms both and addresses the questions of whether the film has a post-credits scene and what the scenes mean.
What does the final credits scene mean?
The later scene returns to the bartender, who survived the destruction at Area 51. A cockroach approaches an open vial that may contain symbiote residue. The image suggests that a symbiote might endure, but it does not confirm that Venom is alive, show Eddie reunited with him, or establish who—or what—might emerge from the vial.

Does the ending set up another Venom movie?
The credits scenes point in different directions and carry different levels of certainty. Knull’s appearance clearly preserves a larger threat, but the material cited here does not confirm a particular follow-up movie. The cockroach and vial offer a much less definite hint that a symbiote could survive. Taken together, the scenes leave the mythology open without undoing Eddie and Venom’s farewell.
