Souther, who was Perrine’s friend and carer, said: “She faced Parkinson’s disease with incredible courage and compassion, never once complaining.” Souther’s tribute offered a personal remembrance alongside the reports of Perrine’s illness and death.

Perrine played Honey Bruce, the wife of comedian Lenny Bruce, in Bob Fosse’s 1974 film Lenny, opposite Dustin Hoffman. The performance earned her an Academy Award nomination. It was her most prominent dramatic recognition, and showed a range that could be obscured by the glamorous image associated with her earlier work as a Las Vegas showgirl.

Eve Teschmacher in Superman
For many viewers, Perrine was also Eve Teschmacher, Lex Luthor’s secretary and romantic partner in Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980). The role made her a familiar face in two major early superhero films, but it was one part of a career that extended beyond the franchise.

Across more than four decades, Perrine accumulated nearly 70 film and television credits, according to the New York Times. Her work ranged from her early Las Vegas showgirl background to award-recognized film acting and popular studio productions.
