What Fernanda Torres said about the role
On 7 August 2024, POPline reported Torres’s comments from an interview with F5 at an event. She said: “Fui sondada sim, mas não tem nada certo. No momento, o que estou fazendo é lançar o filme do Walter [Salles].” In English: “Yes, I was approached, but nothing is certain. At the moment, what I’m doing is launching Walter [Salles]’s film.” POPline’s report therefore supports the claim that Globo had sounded her out for the part, not that she had signed on. She also said her attention at the time was on launching Salles’s film.

Who played Odete in the remake?
Débora Bloch played Odete Roitman in the remake, according to Gshow’s official preview. In the original, Odete was associated with Beatriz Segall’s performance. The remake was written by Manuela Dias, with Paulo Silvestrini as artistic director; Gilberto Braga, Aguinaldo Silva and Leonor Bassères wrote the original.

Odete’s fate
The remake did not give Odete the same outcome as the original: she remained alive. In a July 2026 interview, writer Manuela Dias said she made that choice as a statement about the persistence of elite power. O Dia’s account also reports the remake’s revelation that Leonardo Roitman was alive and had been hidden from his family.

The dates clarify the distinction: Torres’s comment was reported in August 2024, before the remake’s eventual casting was established in Gshow’s official preview.
