Universal Orlando’s Super Nintendo World is part of Universal Epic Universe and spans two themed areas: Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country. The land’s three named rides are Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Mine-Cart Madness and Yoshi’s Adventure, alongside character encounters, interactive Power-Up Band challenges, food and merchandise. The original reveal was published on May 2, 2024; Universal’s current pages are the better guide to what the resort lists now.
What the 2024 reveal covered
Sabina Graves’s May 2, 2024 Gizmodo article reported Universal Orlando’s announcement of more details about Super Nintendo World, then an upcoming Epic Universe destination. It highlighted the Mario Kart, Donkey Kong and Yoshi attractions, as well as character interactions. That article captures the announcement; for the resort’s current descriptions and visit details, consult Universal’s Super Nintendo World page and its Epic Universe park map.
What is in Super Nintendo World?
Universal divides the land into Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country. Its current overview lists three headline attractions, character encounters with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad, themed dining and merchandise.
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge
Universal describes this attraction as a ride through Mario Kart courses where riders throw shells and collect digital coins. It is the choice for visitors most interested in the series’ racing and interactive-game elements.

Yoshi’s Adventure
Universal presents Yoshi’s Adventure as a family-friendly trip through Mushroom Kingdom scenery in search of glowing eggs. Its scenic, gentler premise distinguishes it from the racing focus of Mario Kart and the coaster format of Mine-Cart Madness.

- A variety of playable characters are available, some with unique attributes that affect gameplay and platforming physics.
- Younger and less-experienced players will love playing as Toadette, who is brand new to both games, and Nabbit, who was formerly only playable in New Super Luigi U. Both characters offer extra assistance during play.
- Multiplayer sessions are even more fun, frantic, and exciting thanks to entertaining character interactions. Need a boost? Try jumping off a teammate’s head or getting a teammate to throw you.
- Features a wealth of help features, like a Hints gallery, reference videos, and a Super Guide in New Super Mario Bros. U that can complete levels for you if they’re giving you trouble.
- Three additional modes—Boost Rush, Challenges, and Coin Battle—mix up gameplay and add replayability, while also upping the difficulty for players who want to try something harder. Players can use their Mii characters in these modes.
How the Power-Up Band works
A Power-Up Band is a separately purchased wearable for interactive activities around the land. Universal says visitors can use it to collect digital coins, stamps, scores, rankings and keys. Collecting enough challenge keys unlocks access to Bowser Jr.’s lair for the Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown. The band is an optional interactive feature, not a stated prerequisite for riding the three attractions. Details are on Universal’s Key Challenges and Interactive Activities page.
Food, characters and merchandise
The current park map lists Toadstool Cafe, Yoshi’s Snack Island, Turbo Boost Treats and The Bubbly Barrel, as well as meet-and-greets. Universal’s land overview also features merchandise. These are useful options to factor into a visit, but operating details and availability can change.
