Under a Dark Sun is a six-episode French drama on Netflix, originally titled Soleil noir. It follows Alba, a young mother who takes a job at a flower farm, becomes a murder suspect, and learns that her murdered employer was her father.
What is Under a Dark Sun about?
Netflix describes the premise this way: “On the run from her troubled past, a young mother is accused of killing her new boss at a flower farm just before discovering he’s actually her father.” The series combines a murder investigation with the family secrets Alba encounters while trying to make her way at the farm.
The official episode summaries trace the investigation and Alba’s dealings with the farm family. They establish that family secrets and the search for answers drive the story, but do not provide grounds for adding further plot details here.
Who stars in the series?
Netflix identifies Nils-Antoine Sambuc as the creator and features Isabelle Adjani, Ava Baya, and Guillaume Gouix. Its cast listing also includes Louise Coldefy, Thibault de Montalembert, Claire Romain, and Simon Ehrlacher.

Which Under a Dark Sun is this?
This article is about the 2025 Netflix series, originally titled Soleil noir. It is separate from Robert Friedman’s 2010 novel and Jessica Mann’s 2000 mystery novel, both also titled Under a Dark Sun. The shared English title does not indicate that either book is connected to the series.
