The mystery game was Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag that Ubisoft confirmed officially and released on July 9, 2026. The title first surfaced in a December 2025 rating listing on PEGI’s website, which was reported before Ubisoft made any announcement. The leak named the game correctly, but Ubisoft’s later confirmation is what establishes the official title, platforms, and release date.
What the PEGI listing reported
On December 9, 2025, GamesRadar+ reported that an entry for “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced” had appeared on PEGI’s website. According to that report, the entry carried a PEGI 18 rating with descriptors for violence, bad language, and in-game purchases. It gave no release date, no platforms, and no fuller content description.

What Ubisoft later confirmed
Ubisoft’s official game page calls the title Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and describes it in its FAQ as “a remake, rebuilt from the ground up on the latest version of the Anvil Engine, based on the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.” That is the publisher’s own description, and it is the basis for calling this a remake rather than a standalone sequel.

What Ubisoft says has changed from the original
Ubisoft describes the remake as having updated visuals, gameplay changes, quality-of-life updates, and new content. These are publisher descriptions. They explain what Ubisoft intended to deliver, not how the game performs against the 2013 original in independent testing, and no independent performance comparison is cited here. Ubisoft’s statement that the game runs on the latest version of the Anvil Engine is the most specific technical claim it makes.

How much a rating leak tells you
A rating listing is useful evidence that a title exists and has been submitted for classification, but it is not an announcement. It can carry a name, a rating, and content descriptors while leaving out platforms and dates, as this one did. In this case the leaked name matched the eventual title, but that outcome cannot be generalized: no independent study was found that measures how accurate game rating leaks are, so this one case should not be treated as a reliability rate.
What remains open
The PEGI 18 rating reported in December 2025 has not been checked against a live PEGI record for this article, and Ubisoft’s materials cited here do not restate it. Performance claims and the remake’s specific mechanical differences from the original rest on Ubisoft’s descriptions. Readers who need the current rating should check PEGI’s own website directly.
