Spoiler warning: this article covers the Season 2 finale of Wednesday.
Tyler survives Season 2 and keeps his Hyde powers. The finale does not depict redemption. In the Hyde fight at Iago Tower, he unintentionally kills his mother, Francoise, and he then accepts Isadora Capri’s offer to join a hidden community of Hydes. Wednesday frees him from Isaac Night’s machine, but the season leaves his future choices and Capri’s motives open. The account below follows Netflix Tudum’s Season 2 finale explainer, published September 3, 2025.
Does Tyler die in Wednesday season 2 part 2?
No. Tyler is alive at the end of Season 2. The character who dies in the Part 2 finale is his mother. Part 2 contains Episodes 5–8 and premiered September 3, 2025. Netflix’s Part 2 episode guide, published July 31, 2025, lists the titles “Hyde and Woe Seek,” “Woe Thyself,” “Woe Me The Money,” and “This Means Woe.”
How Tyler’s storyline ends
The sequence is short, but each step changes his position:

- Isaac Night and Francoise tell Tyler that Isaac’s machine will be used to save Francoise. Their actual plan is to remove Tyler’s Hyde abilities, which they present as the way to save his life.
- Tyler sees losing the powers as losing a central part of his identity. He also believes the procedure will cost his mother her life.
- During the Hyde fight at Iago Tower, Tyler kills Francoise unintentionally. Both are in Hyde form, and he keeps his powers.
- At Francoise’s grave, Isadora Capri offers Tyler a different future: a hidden support system of Hydes that would not require a single master. He accepts.
The Iago Tower fight
The fight is the turning point for Tyler. He ends the season bereaved and emotionally isolated, and the death is an accident rather than a deliberate act. Because the source describes the killing as unintentional, readers should not read the finale as Tyler choosing to kill his mother.
Capri’s offer at the grave
Capri’s offer gives Tyler a possible community, not a new moral direction. The grave scene establishes that he has somewhere to go, but it does not establish what that group wants from him.

Is Tyler redeemed in the Wednesday season 2 finale?
No. The season does not show atonement or a change of allegiance. Tyler’s final choice is to accept Capri’s offer, and that choice is a decision to join a group, not evidence of reform.
Capri’s own position is also unresolved. The Netflix explainer explicitly leaves her allegiance and motives uncertain, so the finale does not justify treating her as either a trustworthy ally or a villain.

Alfred Gough, co-creator and showrunner, offers two angles in the Netflix explainer. He says freeing Tyler creates a distraction that helps Wednesday destroy the machine and save Pugsley. He also says: “I think she also sees something in Tyler. Even though she says he’s irredeemable — what does she really think? As we get into Season 3, we’ll question why she did that.” Miles Millar, the other co-creator and showrunner, adds: “I don’t think she even knows herself why she did that.”
The two readings are not mutually exclusive, but the finale supports them to different degrees:
