The two Peacock originals behind this title are no longer upcoming projects: PONIES and M.I.A. have both premiered, and every episode is available to stream on Peacock. They take sharply different routes—one is a 1977 Moscow espionage thriller, the other a South Florida crime drama.
How do PONIES and M.I.A. compare?
| Series | Genre and setting | Lead and creative team | Episodes and release |
|---|---|---|---|
| PONIES | Espionage thriller set in Moscow in 1977 | Emilia Clarke as Bea and Haley Lu Richardson as Twila; created by David Iserson and Susanna Fogel | Eight episodes; premiered Jan. 15, 2026; all episodes streaming on Peacock |
| M.I.A. | Crime drama set in South Florida, including Miami and the Florida Keys | Shannon Gisela as Etta Tiger Jonze; created by Bill Dubuque, with Karen Campbell as showrunner | Nine episodes; released May 7, 2026; all episodes streaming on Peacock |
The key distinction is the kind of story each offers: PONIES puts two women into Cold War-era intelligence work, while M.I.A. follows a woman moving through a criminal underworld after violence disrupts her family’s drug-running business.
What is PONIES about?
In PONIES, Bea (Emilia Clarke) and Twila (Haley Lu Richardson) are American Embassy secretaries in Moscow whose CIA operative husbands are killed. The women become CIA operatives themselves and investigate a conspiracy connected to the deaths. Peacock describes the series as an eight-episode espionage thriller set in 1977.
The title refers to intelligence slang: “persons of no interest.” Peacock’s official guide, updated Jan. 14, 2026, describes the women as “‘persons of no interest’ in intelligence speak” who work anonymously as embassy secretaries. David Iserson and Susanna Fogel created the series; Fogel also directs, and Iserson serves as showrunner with Mike Daniels.
