Yes: Twilight of the Gods ends with a clear narrative opening for more of Sigrid’s story, and co-creator Zack Snyder said the team had a longer story in mind. But that is not the same as Netflix ordering a second season. The available sources establish creator interest and sequel-ready storytelling, not Netflix’s current decision.
What happens at the end of Twilight of the Gods?
The season’s closing scene places Sigrid in Valhalla, where she encounters Thor. Thor’s final line—“And so begins the Song of Sigrid”—casts what follows as the start of a new chapter rather than a definitive end to her story. The setting and the line leave room for Sigrid and Thor to remain part of the conflict, but the cited material does not establish what happens next.
What does the ending mean?
A revenge story rooted in love and loyalty
Co-creator and writer Jay Oliva described the series’ starting point as the aftermath of Ragnarok and the death of the Norse gods, seen through human survivors. He said he wanted to tell the story of two people and the world ending around them, while keeping love at the center of the revenge story. That perspective puts the human cost of the gods’ conflict—not just the gods themselves—at the heart of the series. Oliva discussed the premise and emotional core with What’s on Netflix on September 11, 2024.
Snyder’s pro-mortality reading
Snyder offered a thematic interpretation of the finale: he called it “pro-human” and “pro-mortality.” In his view, mortal life has a beginning, middle, and end, and that limit gives it meaning; immortality without an end can become monotonous. This is Snyder’s reading of the ending, not the only possible interpretation. He shared that view in an Anime Trending interview published October 7, 2024.

Does the finale set up a sequel?
Yes, in the story and in the creators’ stated intentions. The Valhalla encounter and Thor’s closing line point toward another stage for Sigrid. Snyder also said the team had a longer story in mind and knew what it wanted the characters to do, while describing the season’s ending as a satisfying place to stop. Snyder made those comments in a 2024 interview with GamesRadar+.
Oliva likewise expressed enthusiasm about continuing, saying, “Of course, we are eagerly waiting to work on Twilight Season 2!” That is the writer’s interest, not confirmation that Netflix commissioned another season. His comment appeared in the same September 11, 2024 interview.
