Paramount+ describes the episode’s setup this way: “Margaret gets caught up in the middle of Dwight’s business as trouble ensues at Fennario Ranch.” That premise brings Dwight’s criminal operation into direct contact with someone tied to his Tulsa life. The official summary establishes the human stakes, but not the episode’s specific turns or ending; this review focuses on the power shift rather than presenting an exhaustive scene-by-scene recap.
Does Dwight get the upper hand?
“The bloody upper hand” is a useful way to read “Triad”: the episode treats violence as a means of changing the balance of power, not just as an escalation for its own sake. Its appeal lies in watching conflicts that have been building move toward answers and altered loyalties. But speed cuts both ways. A fast resolution can feel satisfyingly decisive; it can also make a hard-won shift seem too convenient if the relationships behind it have not had time to breathe.
The episode’s strongest dramatic stake is the reach of Dwight’s business into Margaret’s orbit. That connection makes the danger more than a distant contest among criminal factions. It also raises the standard for the episode’s choices: when alliances shift, the consequences should register for the people pulled into Dwight’s world, not only for the men fighting over power.

How do the critics read the episode?
The three critic ratings listed by Rotten Tomatoes reflect distinct responses, not a consensus. Brittany Frederick of CBR gave it 8/10 and called it “A dramatic, violent episode that answers a lot of questions and ties up some loose ends.” Carissa Pavlica of TV Fanatic rated it 4.4/5, highlighting “Unlikely alliances and shifting loyalties” ahead of a battle against a greater threat. Sean T. Collins of New York Magazine/Vulture gave it 3/5 and quipped, “On Tulsa King, revenge is a dish best served in thirty minutes or less, or it’s free!”
Those reactions point to the episode’s central trade-off: its violence and pace can make resolutions feel brisk and gratifying, while the same speed may leave some changes in allegiance feeling less fully developed. The ratings are individual critics’ judgments; they are context for that question, not proof that every viewer will find the payoff convincing.
