What happens at the end of “Oklahoma v. Manfredi”?
The episode’s ending delivers two sharply different outcomes for Dwight. In court, the jury finds him not guilty on all 18 counts of bribing a federal agent. At his party, however, the conflict with the Kansas City mob turns violent.
Earlier, Bevilaqua and his associate Carl tell Dwight that Kansas City controls Tulsa and expect him to fall in line. Dwight refuses. Bevilaqua sends Carl away, saying he will make another offer. Carl later returns to Dwight’s party and tries to shoot him. Goodie and Bigfoot intervene, and Goodie stabs Carl. They wrap Carl’s body in plastic and leave it in Bevilaqua’s driveway.
What does the acquittal mean for Dwight?
The trial centers on Dwight’s alleged payment to ATF agent Stacy Beale. Dwight calls Stacy to testify about their relationship and whether he asked her for anything in exchange for the money. The jury’s not-guilty verdict removes the immediate threat of conviction on those 18 charges, but it does not resolve the danger surrounding Dwight’s Tulsa operation.

Why does Dwight reject Bevilaqua’s demand?
Bevilaqua’s claim that Tulsa is under Kansas City control is a demand for submission, not a friendly proposal. Dwight’s refusal preserves his independence, but it also leaves the dispute unresolved. Carl’s return with a gun makes the conflict personal; his death and the placement of his body at Bevilaqua’s home turn the party’s violence into a direct warning.
Is Carl’s body meant as a message?
The episode does not provide a creator’s explanation of the final image. The action itself strongly signals retaliation: Carl is killed after an attempt on Dwight’s life, then left at Bevilaqua’s driveway. TVLine’s September 29, 2024 recap describes the body being left there “as a message,” which fits the scene’s clear implication. It is an interpretation of the events, not confirmed behind-the-scenes commentary.

How the episode’s ending sets up the conflict
“Oklahoma v. Manfredi” closes with Dwight legally free of the bribery charges but still exposed to a power struggle he cannot settle in court. His refusal to yield to Bevilaqua, followed by Carl’s death, points toward escalation rather than reconciliation. The episode is Season 2, Episode 3, and Paramount+ lists its premiere date as September 29, 2024; its guide gives a runtime of 42 minutes.
