Spoilers for “Part 5,” Season 4, Episode 5. The episode links Tsalal’s funding to Silver Sky, while the official account attributes the scientists’ deaths to an avalanche. Hank admits moving Annie K.’s body, but not killing her. Pete shoots Hank after he threatens Danvers, and Danvers and Navarro head for the ice caves. The episode does not reveal Annie’s killer.
“Part 5” aired February 11, 2024. Its story advances the Tsalal investigation, brings the mining conflict into the open, and forces Peter Prior to choose between his father and Danvers. The distinctions matter: an official explanation, a character’s suspicion, and Hank’s own admission are not the same as a confirmed account of the murders.
10 story reveals and clues in “Part 5”
1. Tsalal’s funding leads to Silver Sky
Prior’s financial investigation connects Tsalal’s backers with Silver Sky, the mining company. That link broadens the inquiry from the scientists’ deaths to the relationships among Ennis’s institutions. It is a lead, not evidence that everyone associated with either organization took part in a killing. High On Films’ episode recap describes the financial connection.
2. Connelly gives the deaths an official explanation
Connelly tells Danvers that the scientists’ deaths were attributed to an avalanche. Danvers doubts the explanation in light of the circumstances at Tsalal and the possibility that pollution figures were manipulated. The episode presents the avalanche as the official finding, not as a resolution of the detectives’ concerns. The official episode synopsis and contemporary coverage establish the competing context.

3. Disputed pollution figures suggest a possible motive
Tsalal’s connection to disputed pollution numbers raises the possibility that its work could have affected Silver Sky’s environmental record. That makes a cover-up a line of inquiry; it does not establish who killed Annie or the scientists. Tell-Tale TV’s episode review discusses the mining and pollution thread.
4. Leah is caught in the mine protest
The conflict over the mine becomes immediate when Leah is caught in a protest that turns violent. Navarro gets her out. The official synopsis places this personal danger alongside Prior’s investigation into Tsalal and Silver Sky, showing how the case intersects with the wider unrest in Ennis. Warner Bros. Discovery’s episode synopsis identifies both storylines.

6. Hank admits he moved Annie’s body
Hank tells Pete, “I didn’t kill Annie K. I just moved her body,” as reported by TV Insider. The line is Hank’s claim, not proof of what happened or who killed Annie. It does, however, confirm that Hank concealed his involvement with her body.

7. Hank was pushed to block the cave inquiry
Episode coverage reports that Kate McKitterick wanted Hank to keep Danvers away from the caves and remove Otis as a source. That pressure connects Hank to efforts to obstruct the investigation. It still does not establish that he killed Annie. High On Films’ recap describes the instruction, and TV Insider’s coverage addresses Hank’s role.
8. The Wheeler evidence exposes Danvers and Navarro’s secret
Peter notices that details in the Wheeler evidence do not fit the official suicide account, including the handedness and reversed photographs. His discovery reveals that Danvers and Navarro concealed information about the case and gives Hank leverage over Danvers. It also changes Peter’s position: the conflict is no longer only about his father’s orders, but about what the detectives themselves hid. High On Films’ recap details the evidence Peter reexamines.

9. Pete shoots Hank to stop him
Hank kills Otis and threatens Danvers. He appeals to family loyalty, telling Peter, “Blood is blood, Peter. Remember that,” according to TV Insider. Peter shoots his father before Hank can fire at Danvers. The moment ends the immediate threat but leaves Peter with a death to answer for as the investigation continues.
10. The final destination is the caves, not a solved case
Navarro stops Danvers from calling Connelly, and the two detectives leave for the ice caves. The closing movement is a cliffhanger: neither Annie’s killer nor the full circumstances of the Tsalal deaths are resolved. High On Films’ ending recap describes the departure.

What the ending establishes—and what it does not
The episode places Hank inside the cover-up: he moved Annie’s body, and coverage describes pressure on him to impede the cave investigation. But it does not establish that he killed her. TV Insider identified Raymond Clark as a continuing suspect in its contemporary episode coverage; that is an episode-level assessment, not a final answer to the season’s mystery. TV Insider’s report frames the question at the time of the episode.
Peter’s action changes the immediate situation, but the case remains open. Danvers and Navarro pursue the cave lead while the story leaves both the Annie investigation and the Tsalal deaths unresolved.
