Travis Kelce hosts Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, an adult-focused spinoff of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? In the announced format, contestants tackle elementary-school questions with celebrity classmates, then face a sixth-grade-level final question worth $100,000. Amazon announced the 20-episode series in April 2024 and set its premiere for October 16, 2024; Prime Video now lists the season and its episodes.
What is Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity??
It is a celebrity-assisted quiz show built around the classroom format of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?. Instead of placing children at the center of the game, the spinoff has an adult contestant answer questions drawn from elementary-school curricula with help from a classroom of celebrities. Amazon described the change as a “new, loud twist” on the format. Amazon’s April 2024 announcement set the series at 20 episodes.

How does the game work?
- Answer 11 curriculum-based questions. An adult contestant works through questions based on elementary-school material with a classroom of celebrity participants available to help.
- Use the celebrity classmates. The premise allows contestants to get help from—or “cheat off”—their famous classmates, a setup Amazon said was intended to create humor and surprises.
- Face the final question. The last question is at sixth-grade level and is worth $100,000. Before answering, the contestant chooses one celebrity to discuss it with.
Those are the mechanics described in Amazon’s announcement and summarized by the Associated Press. The available format description does not establish that every rule from the original show carries over.
How does it compare with Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader??
| Format element | Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? | Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? |
|---|---|---|
| Contestant focus | The original has a child-centered classroom premise. | An adult contestant takes the quiz. |
| Classroom helpers | Students are central to the original premise. | A classroom of celebrity participants can help the contestant. |
| Final-question stakes | Not stated in the cited description of the original. | The announced final question is at sixth-grade level and worth $100,000. |
| Tone | Not stated in the cited description of the original. | Amazon presented the celebrity twist as a source of laughs and surprises. |
The core recognition is the elementary-school quiz and classroom setting; the spinoff changes who competes and who sits in the class. Amazon’s announcement placed the predecessor’s global run at more than 3,000 episodes. It also said the original U.S. version drew 27 million viewers at its 2007 premiere and more than 800 million viewers cumulatively during its run; those are Amazon-stated historical figures, not independently audited totals.

- TRIVIA - Trivia should be fun - not feel like a homework assignment. That’s why we’ve filled ours with as many completely useless celebrity facts as we could find…and even better, you’ll choose questions from a bunch of misleading categories. For example: “You’ve Got Mail” - which are questions about celebrities who still use an AOL email account.
- HOW TO PLAY - Suitable for 2 to 8 (or more) players, this trivia set includes 200 unique trivia cards specifically themed around celebrities. The set also includes an instruction sheet with 3 different ways to play (depending on how smart you think you are).
- PERFECT PARTY GAME - Bring Irrelevant Celebrity Trivia to your next party and watch it be a guaranteed hit! Get some friendly (or aggressive we don’t know you) competition going with trivia about famous people you would have never guessed. You really think your friends which famous actress famously pre-chewed her children’s food for them? Play the trivia game and find out! It's a game that will give you a night of crazy knowledge and unforgettable memories.
- GIFT IT UP - Irrelevant Celebrity Trivia Set by Brass Monkey is going to be the biggest hit at your next party. - Brass Monkey - We’re the line between roadside souvenirs and fine china. Here to turn the things that people didn't know they wanted, into the things that they can't live without. Well designed products that just happen to have a sense of humor.

Kelce is the host. Amazon’s announcement named comedians Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer, and Ron Funches; football personalities Ryan Fitzpatrick and Chad Ochocinco; and Garcelle Beauvais, Lala Kent, Sophia Stallone, and Lilly Singh among the participants. The announcement listed Wes Kauble as showrunner and executive producer alongside Mark Burnett, with Sean Kelly and Steve Hughes as co-executive producers.
