Tracker Season 3 keeps Colter Shaw’s missing-person cases at its center while giving the Shaw family mystery more room to develop. After Bobby Exley and Velma Bruin leave the regular cast, the key question is whether the new season’s investigations and Colter’s partnership with his brother provide enough momentum. The season’s structure offers a qualified answer: it preserves the show’s procedural engine and reconnects it to the larger story of Colter’s father.
What changes in Season 3?
Tracker follows Colter Shaw, a reward-seeking tracker who travels the country looking for missing people. CBS describes him as a skilled tracker and lone-wolf survivalist who relies on his instincts, expertise and trusted team. Season 3 retains that case-driven premise, but its regular support network is smaller.
TVLine reported on July 18, 2025, that Eric Graise, who played hacker Bobby Exley, and Abby McEnany, who played Colter’s handler Velma Bruin, had departed ahead of the season. Robin Weigert’s Teddi, Velma’s wife, had already been written out after Season 1. These exits change the texture of Colter’s remote support; by themselves, they do not establish that the show has lost suspense or quality.
CBS’s current series information lists Justin Hartley, Fiona Rene and Chris Lee among the cast. That page is a series overview, not a complete episode-by-episode Season 3 cast record, so it should not be read as a definitive account of every character appearing during the season.

Does the season still deliver suspense after the cast exits?
The case-of-the-week format remains the season’s foundation, and the official episode summaries show a range of setups rather than one repeated kind of search. The premiere, “The Process,” pairs a missing-person case involving a client’s wife and daughter with Colter’s investigation into his father’s past. Russell Shaw returns to work alongside Colter, and “Leverage” continues the story of an operation called the Process.
Other cases take Colter into distinct settings: “The Old Ways” involves four teens who vanish on a hike and an off-grid community; “Angel” turns an amateur true-crime group into a danger; and “Eat the Rich” begins with a missing courier and leads toward a wealthy family and its fixer. Later cases include Colter being injured and framed for murder, a missing doctor, a boy who vanishes on a school field trip, and a stuntman who disappears from a film set.

That variety gives the procedural side different circumstances to work with, while the father mystery supplies a thread beyond any single job. Whether individual episodes feel genuinely urgent is an evaluative question, not something an episode list can settle on its own. The clearest structural strength is the contrast between self-contained searches and the longer Shaw-family story.
How much does the Shaw family mystery matter?
The season opens and closes with Colter and Russell investigating questions tied to their father. In the two-part premiere, the Process storyline connects the brothers’ work to Colter’s search for answers. The official finale synopsis brings them together again to find a victim connected to a research project and uncover more of their father’s mysterious work.

This gives Season 3 a season-long direction without replacing the weekly cases. Russell’s return also creates a different kind of investigative partnership from Colter’s reliance on a remote support network. The result is a season built on two sources of momentum: the immediate stakes of a missing-person case and the unresolved history that follows the Shaw family.
Is Tracker Season 3 worth watching?
If Bobby and Velma were the main reason you watched, their departures are a real change: the show has fewer familiar voices supporting Colter from a distance. But Season 3 does not abandon the basic appeal of the series. Its cases range from a hiking disappearance to a film-set mystery, while the Colter-and-Russell storyline keeps the family history active across the season.
