“Collision,” the 18th episode of Tracker Season 2, begins with Colter Shaw searching for Riley Adams, who vanishes after being forced off the road near Willow Creek, Michigan. The episode’s early clues point toward a threatening acquaintance, but the case changes shape as Colter and Detective Katie Douglas uncover what Riley was hiding. This review discusses the setup without revealing the final motive or rescue.

Tracker Season 2, Episode 18, “Collision,” originally aired April 27, 2025. CBS lists its runtime as 43 minutes and its rating as TV-14 V, L. The official episode page describes the search for Riley after she disappears on her drive home near Willow Creek, Michigan. CBS episode listing

Does “Collision” build suspense effectively?

The episode gives Colter a familiar but workable starting point: Riley is missing, the local police have little to go on, and her mother, Susanna, asks him to help. The investigation gathers momentum through concrete leads—Riley’s workplace, a suspicious letter, a damaged car and hotel footage—rather than relying only on Colter’s intuition.

That clue chain keeps the hour moving, though its turns are more efficient than subtle. A possible stalker and a connection to former boxer Vincent Rourke initially supply a recognizable missing-person framework. As new information reframes those suspicions, the story pivots into much darker territory. The reveal is designed to shock; whether it feels gripping or overly sensational depends on how much weight a viewer wants the show to give its most extreme plot turn.

How well do Colter and the local investigation work together?

Detective Katie Douglas is more than a handoff between scenes: she works alongside Colter as the case shifts from a disappearance to a criminal investigation. Bobby and Randy contribute technical and research support, widening the search beyond the people physically questioning witnesses. That combination gives the episode some procedural texture, even as the supporting work often serves the brisk pace more than it develops a separate investigative thread.

Colter’s access and freedom are less convincing. He enters a hotel room without permission and moves through dangerous scenes with little friction. Such shortcuts keep him close to each clue, but they also make the investigation feel less constrained by the police process the episode has established.

What gives the episode character beyond the case?

A brief detail about Colter’s fear of chickens offers a small comic release from the kidnapping story’s increasingly grim stakes. It is a fleeting beat rather than a major subplot, but it gives the otherwise capable, self-contained tracker an unexpectedly ordinary vulnerability.

The dialogue can be awkward, particularly when characters have to explain the next turn in the case. That unevenness sits alongside an episode built for forward motion: it is interested in getting Colter from lead to lead, not lingering over every conversation.

Spoilers: What the reveal and ending mean for the episode

Spoilers for the plot and ending follow.

Colter learns that Riley is pregnant and that Vincent is the father. Vincent denies knowing where she is, and the investigation turns toward Riley’s coworker and longtime acquaintance Cheryl after hotel footage connects her to damage to Vincent’s car. Colter finds Cheryl dead, with signs that the scene has been staged. These developments successively unsettle the episode’s apparent explanations, but the rapid succession leaves limited room for each suspect or clue to breathe.

The kidnappers are Tyler and Monica, also identified as Lisa, who abducted Riley because Monica intends to claim Riley’s baby. Their history includes pregnancy loss, criminal activity and Monica’s past impersonation of a nurse. Colter and Douglas pursue them; Colter finds Riley in a concealed room and persuades Monica to surrender. Riley is reunited with Susanna.

The ending delivers a clear resolution, but some of the behavior around it invites questions about plausibility and aftermath. Viewers in a Reddit discussion raised concerns about character choices, dialogue and the medical response after Riley had been drugged. Those comments are individual reactions, not evidence of a broad consensus. In particular, the episode’s return-to-family ending leaves the on-screen response to her condition feeling less emphasized than the rescue itself; the story does not offer a detailed medical follow-up.
