A motorcycle-news report identifies the bike as a LiveWire S2 Del Mar electric motorcycle. The stunt was part of the Paris-to-LA transition presentation, and the official Los Angeles announcements that followed confirm the 2028 venue and production team but say nothing about a Cruise appearance at those Games.
What happened in Paris
The Paris 2024 closing ceremony took place on August 11, 2024 at Stade de France. As part of the transition toward Los Angeles, Cruise appeared in the stadium, rappelled in, and then rode a motorcycle away. ABC News, reporting on August 12, 2024, described this as part of the ceremony’s transition presentation and included the rappel, the motorcycle exit, and a plane-jump sequence in its account.
The live stadium moment is the part most viewers saw at the event itself. It is the event the headline refers to, and it should be read as a staged segment within a ceremony rather than a separate Olympic competition or ceremonial contract.
Which motorcycle he rode
The model name comes from one source. Nieuwsmotor, a Dutch motorcycle news site, published its identification on August 12, 2024, naming the bike a LiveWire S2 Del Mar, an electric motorcycle. No other source in the reporting reviewed for this article independently confirms that model name, so treat the S2 Del Mar identification as Nieuwsmotor’s identification rather than a widely confirmed fact.

The headline’s phrase “Harley-Davidson LiveWire” blends two names. LiveWire is an electric-motorcycle brand with a corporate link to Harley-Davidson, but the model identification here uses the LiveWire name and does not establish a Harley-Davidson-branded model.
The filmed sequence that followed
Nieuwsmotor also described a film sequence that followed the stadium exit and used the same electric motorcycle in the handoff story. Keep the two parts distinct: the stadium footage shows the live exit from the ceremony, while the subsequent film extended the handoff toward Los Angeles. The reporting reviewed does not provide a running time, a release platform, or a production breakdown for that film, so describe it only as a sequence that continued the same motorcycle storyline.

The 2028 closing ceremony venue
On May 8, 2025, LA28 announced the ceremony venues. The Olympic closing ceremony will be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 30, 2028. LA28 Chairperson and President Casey Wasserman said: “The venues selected for the 2028 Opening and Closing Ceremonies will highlight Los Angeles’s rich sporting history and cutting-edge future, showcasing the very best that LA has to offer on the world stage.”

The same announcement includes a statement from Mayor Karen Bass: “Today’s announcement marks a proud milestone as the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will become the first venue in history to host three Olympic Games.” That quote is Bass’s, from the official May 8, 2025 announcement.
The production team
On October 30, 2025, LA28 announced the production team for the 2028 ceremonies. Ben Winston is executive producer and creative director, and FulFive is the production company. LA28 described Winston as the producer behind the 2024 Paris-to-LA handover, which links the two ceremonies through the same creative lead.

Any listing you find should be confirmed against the current model name and specifications rather than the 2024 identification alone.
Cruise’s appearance was a one-time staged segment in the 2024 ceremony. Whether a similar segment appears at the 2028 closing ceremony at the Memorial Coliseum is not something LA28’s published announcements address.
