Two clues in this grid depend on a pun or a double reading, which is where most solvers get stuck.
- “Styles of singing?” is HARRY. The question mark signals that “styles” is a name, not a vocal genre: the answer is the singer Harry Styles.
- “What ‘yellow’ and ‘mellow’ do” is RHYME across, and it leads into the down entry 1D, CLASH, which is the other half of the color pairing in the clue for 1D.
The remaining entries are direct definitions. CDS, CLOTH, and the down answers are straightforward once the crossings are set.
