To Be Hero X has an unusually sharp premise: in its world, a hero’s powers depend on how much the public trusts them. The series pairs that idea with what its official site calls “multi-style animation,” giving it a distinctive visual identity to explore. “Promising” and “visually stunning” are critical judgments, not measured rankings—but the concept, creative credits and musical lineup make a compelling case for attention.
What is To Be Hero X about?
To Be Hero X is an original superhero animation series produced by BeDream with bilibili and Aniplex. Haolin Lee (Li Haolin) is credited as its original story creator and director. The official English-language site introduces the premise with the line, “If the people believe that a man can fly, he will fly.” In this world, public trust is not merely a measure of a hero’s reputation: belief gives heroes their powers, and losing that trust can take those abilities away. The official series site explains the premise and credits.
Trust is quantified and used to rank heroes. Every two years, the top heroes meet in a tournament; their performances affect their trust values and rankings. The hero at the very top is called X. That setup makes each contest consequential on two levels: it can change a hero’s standing and the public belief on which their abilities depend.
Why the animation stands out on paper
The official English site describes To Be Hero X as a “multi-style animation series.” That phrase is a useful clue to the show’s visual ambition, but it is not an independent quality rating. The available official material does not quantify animation quality or audience reception, so “visually stunning” is best understood as an evaluative description rather than a verified consensus. Haolin Lee’s direction and BeDream’s production credit provide context for the series’ creative identity; a judgment about particular scenes depends on watching the show.
