The official synopsis establishes that premise, but it does not describe the episode’s ending or specific visual sequences. So the claim of a “shocking cliffhanger” or “groundbreaking visuals” cannot be confirmed from the available official material alone.
What episode 1 sets up
Aniplex’s synopsis names the opening story “Nice.” Nice is presented as an ideal hero and the TreeMan Group’s star, with a large fan following. Lin Ling works for an advertising company producing Nice commercials and privately wants to be a hero himself. The official synopsis is available on Aniplex’s TO BE HERO X series listing.
That pairing sets up a useful contrast: Nice is a public image shaped for an audience, while Lin Ling is close to the machinery that promotes him and harbors a private aspiration of his own. This is a reading of the premise, not a confirmed account of how the episode resolves their relationship.
How trust works in TO BE HERO X
The series’ official premise makes public belief more than a measure of popularity. Trust can grant a hero abilities: if people believe someone can fly, that belief gives the person the power to fly. If trust is lost, those abilities can disappear. A quantified Trust Value determines hero rankings, and a tournament held every two years resets the values and ranks. The rules are summarized on the official series site.

That system gives the Nice-and-Lin Ling setup broader stakes. A hero’s public standing is not simply publicity; in this world, belief is bound to power. Lin Ling’s work making Nice commercials therefore sits close to the mechanism that sustains a hero’s status, though the official episode synopsis does not say how that tension plays out on screen.
What the official sources say about the visuals
The official site describes TO BE HERO X as a “multi-style animation series” and identifies the Nice arc as based on CG animation. That confirms the stated production approach, but it does not establish that episode 1’s visuals are groundbreaking or explain particular shots, movements, or transitions.

Composer Hiroyuki SAWANO comments on the Nice arc’s CG approach in an English translation published by the official site: “I thought it was interesting that the Nice arc was produced based on CG animation, and I composed the music with the hope that it would make the protagonist’s heroic figure more powerful.” This is evidence of the arc’s intended CG basis and of how SAWANO approached its music—not an independent assessment of the animation’s quality.
The series is an original production directed by Haolin, with BeDream listed for production and bilibili, BeDream, and Aniplex listed as producers. For an episode-specific judgment about whether the visuals stand out, the relevant evidence would be the episode itself: how character movement and expression, camera staging, action clarity, and transitions work in context.
