Spoilers for all 10 episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2.
Titan X is not the creature’s real name. It is the temporary Monarch/Apex designation for Co’cai, an ancient oceanic Titan that emerges from Axis Mundi and becomes the season’s central monster mystery. By the finale, the show reveals that Co’cai is a female Titan protecting an egg—not a world-conquering villain—and that human interference is responsible for much of her apparent aggression.
What is Titan X?
“Titan X” is a field codename used before Monarch and Apex understand what they are dealing with. In Episode 3, the creature’s local name is revealed as Co’cai. The name comes from the villagers of Santa Soledad, who worship her as a sea deity and call her El gran dios del mar, or “the great god of the sea.”
Monarch’s post-season classification identifies Titan X/Co’cai as an oceanic alpha-class organism. She has traits associated with deep-sea leviathans and cephalopods, emits blue bioluminescent patterns and maintains a symbiotic relationship with smaller Scarab organisms.

The “alpha-class” label is official. However, it does not mean that Co’cai commands the Scarabs in the same way that Ghidorah controlled other Titans. Her relationship with them is presented as biological and symbiotic rather than as a conventional monster army.
Where did Titan X come from?
Co’cai is connected to the MonsterVerse’s Axis Mundi, the interdimensional realm associated with Titan activity and ancient rifts. At the start of Season 2, Cate, May and Keiko are rescued from Axis Mundi. The rescue operation unintentionally opens a route to the surface, allowing Co’cai to escape.
She emerges near Skull Island, where her arrival immediately threatens the island’s ecosystem and brings her into conflict with Kong. The season also makes clear that this is not Co’cai’s first contact with the human world. Monarch recorded her in the 1950s, and a younger Lee Shaw and Keiko encountered her during the earlier timeline.
Her movements appear to follow recurring migratory routes linked to ancient rifts, geothermal activity and magnetic anomalies. Her appearance in 2017 also places the story before the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which takes place in 2019.

Nothing in the completed season establishes an extraterrestrial origin. Co’cai comes through Axis Mundi; she is not confirmed to have come from outer space.
What does Co’cai mean?
The series gives Co’cai a local cultural identity but does not provide a definitive translation of the word itself. Santa Soledad’s villagers treat her as a sea god, which explains the reverent language surrounding her.
Some viewers have connected “Co’cai” to Cai Cai Vilu, the Mapuche sea-serpent figure. The resemblance is an interesting mythological parallel, but the show never confirms that Co’cai is a direct adaptation of Cai Cai Vilu. That connection should remain a theory rather than established MonsterVerse canon.
What does Titan X look like?
Co’cai has an elongated amphibious body, a reptilian or leviathan-like head and several tentacle-like appendages. Her most distinctive features include:
- Blue bioluminescent lines across her body
- Large, expressive eyes
- A prominent dorsal crown or spine structure
- Cephalopod-inspired facial and body anatomy
- Powerful jaws and tentacles
- Scarab organisms attached to or moving around her body
The design prompted early comparisons with Biollante because of the tentacles, organic silhouette and enormous mouth. Production information points elsewhere. VFX supervisor Sean Konrad identified the Portuguese man o’ war as the main starting point, with additional influence from squid, octopus, eel and crocodile anatomy. The crown-like features were also influenced by the Alien Queen from Aliens.
That combination makes Co’cai a new MonsterVerse creation rather than a redesigned Toho kaiju.
Why does Titan X have Scarabs?
The Scarabs are not simply disposable minions. Season 2 presents them as part of a symbiotic relationship with Co’cai. They live on or around her body and provide an additional defensive hazard to anything that approaches her.
The smaller organisms are capable of attacking, maiming and killing humans. Their presence makes encounters with Co’cai especially dangerous, but the season does not show her issuing commands to them through an alpha signal. The more accurate description is a biological colony or mutualistic association.

Co’cai is classed as alpha-level, yet her connection to the Scarabs is not evidence of a military chain of command. The MonsterVerse ecosystem is more complicated than a simple ranking in which one giant creature controls every smaller organism nearby.
Is Titan X male or female?
Titan X is female. The season eventually reveals that she is carrying or protecting an egg, which reframes her attacks and her movement across the surface world.
Co’cai is displaced from Axis Mundi, separated from the route she was following and then further provoked after Apex steals the egg. Isabel Simmons uses neural-interface technology to manipulate and intensify the Titan’s responses. What initially looks like indiscriminate hostility is therefore largely a combination of maternal protection, disorientation and technological interference.
The production also emphasizes Co’cai’s emotional behavior, particularly through close-ups of her eyes. She is dangerous, but the show deliberately makes her motivations understandable.

What abilities does Titan X have?
The season confirms a number of physical and biological abilities:
| Ability | What the season establishes |
|---|---|
| Extreme strength | Co’cai can grapple with other Titans and overpower large structures or obstacles. |
| Aquatic mobility | She moves through the ocean and emerges from the sea with the scale expected of an oceanic Titan. |
| Tentacle attacks | Her appendages can restrain, strike and grapple opponents. |
| Durability | She withstands attacks during confrontations involving Godzilla and Kong. |
| Bioluminescence | Blue lines across her body produce a visible glow in dark or underwater environments. |
| Acoustic signaling | Her calls can be recorded and later used to influence her movement. |
| Scarab symbiosis | Scarab colonies accompany her and create an additional defensive threat. |
The series does not confirm an energy beam, atomic breath, poison attack or supernatural reality-warping power. Her “siren song” is best understood as a recognizable vocal or acoustic signal. Monarch uses recordings of her calls to draw her back toward the Skull Island rift.
Is Titan X bigger than Godzilla?
Co’cai is clearly enormous, but Season 2 does not provide a reliable canon height or weight. Promotional footage and certain shots make her appear larger than nearby whales, ships or human buildings, but water depth, perspective and partial framing make exact comparisons unreliable.
She is powerful enough to fight Godzilla and Kong, but that does not prove that she is physically larger than either of them. Claims that Titan X is definitively bigger than Godzilla are not supported by a stated measurement in the show.

Why does Titan X attack humans?
Co’cai’s behavior has several causes rather than one simple motive:
- She is displaced from Axis Mundi.
- She is following a migratory route connected to Titan rifts.
- She is searching for or protecting her egg.
- Apex steals the egg.
- Isabel Simmons uses neural technology to intensify and redirect her aggression.
- Humans repeatedly obstruct her movement and attempt to exploit her biology.
That chain of events changes the meaning of the season’s monster threat. Co’cai is not attacking because she wants to rule the planet. She is responding to displacement, separation and manipulation. Humans make the situation worse by treating her as a weapon or a problem to be controlled.
Titan X versus Godzilla
Godzilla and Co’cai confront each other during Season 2. Lee Shaw attempts to use the clash as a solution, believing that another Titan may be the only force capable of stopping her.
The encounter does not end with Co’cai’s death. Godzilla ultimately forces or redirects her toward Skull Island, where the larger conflict involving Kong, Apex and the stolen egg is waiting. The confrontation therefore functions less as a final boss battle than as a reminder that Titans operate according to territory, instinct and ecological pressure.
Rank #3
It also undercuts the expectation created by early promotional material that the season would deliver a definitive Godzilla-versus-Titan-X showdown. The finished story is more interested in how human organizations provoke and weaponize Titan behavior.
Titan X versus Kong
The Season 2 finale, “Where We Belong,” brings Co’cai into a battle with Kong on Skull Island. The clash threatens to reshape the island, but neither Titan receives a straightforward victory.
Apex uses neural technology to control or intensify Co’cai while she is trying to recover her egg. She continues fighting until she sees or reaches it. Once the egg is within reach, the neural manipulation loses its hold and her behavior changes.
Co’cai stops attacking and acknowledges Kong rather than continuing the confrontation. The result is best described as a stalemate resolved by the recovery of the egg. Kong does not decisively kill or defeat her, and Co’cai does not conquer Skull Island.
What happens to Titan X at the end of Season 2?
By the end of the finale:
- Co’cai recovers her egg.
- Apex loses control of her.
- The immediate danger to Skull Island ends.
- Monarch uses recordings of her calls to guide her toward the island’s rift.
- Co’cai and the egg return to Axis Mundi.
- Co’cai survives.
There is no verified evidence that she dies, transforms into another creature, becomes corrupted or remains trapped on the surface. Her story ends with a return to Axis Mundi, not a final defeat.
Is Titan X actually Biollante?
No. The Biollante theory was based on visual similarities: tentacles, a large mouth, an organic body and a perceived relationship with Godzilla.
Season 2 does not support that identification. Co’cai has her own name, mythology, egg and ecological role. Production comments describe marine animals and the Alien Queen—not Biollante—as design influences. No official source identifies her as Biollante or as a MonsterVerse version of the Toho character.
A similar silhouette is not the same thing as a continuity connection.

No. The name “Titan X” may remind viewers of Monster X from Godzilla: Final Wars, but the similarity ends there. The X is a Monarch/Apex designation used before the creature’s identity is known.
Season 2 does not reveal Co’cai to be Monster X, a descendant of Monster X, an offspring of King Ghidorah or a related species. Once the local name Co’cai is established, the show gives her a separate identity.

There is no canon evidence that Co’cai is Destoroyah or will transform into Destoroyah. Fan theories have suggested a future connection involving the Oxygen Destroyer, mutation or biological fusion, but Season 2 establishes none of those steps.
Co’cai survives as herself, returns to Axis Mundi with her egg and undergoes no transformation into another Titan.

Is Titan X connected to SpaceGodzilla?
Again, there is no verified connection. Some theories proposed that Co’cai’s biology, spores or rift activity could eventually lead to SpaceGodzilla. The completed season contains no reference to extraterrestrial crystals, cosmic mutation or a biological route from Co’cai to that character.
For now, the SpaceGodzilla idea remains fan speculation.
Will Titan X appear in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova?
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova has been announced for 2027, but there is no verified official confirmation that Co’cai will appear in the film or serve as its principal villain.
Her survival leaves the possibility open. It does not make a future appearance canon. Season 2 ends with a plausible route for her return, not an announcement that she is part of the next movie.
What Titan X adds to MonsterVerse lore
- Titans are not automatically villains. Co’cai’s conflict grows from displacement, migration and parental protection.
- The alpha system is not a simple army structure. She is alpha-class, but her relationship with the Scarabs is symbiotic rather than militaristic.
- Human technology can manipulate Titan behavior. Apex turns neural-interface research into a way to provoke and redirect a living Titan.
- Axis Mundi is an active ecological network. It is connected to migration, reproduction, rifts and the movement of Titans between locations—not merely a hidden place where monsters live.
The answer in one sentence
Titan X is Co’cai, a female, bioluminescent oceanic alpha-class Titan with cephalopod and deep-sea traits, a symbiotic Scarab colony and a connection to Axis Mundi; she is not confirmed to be Biollante, Monster X, Destoroyah or SpaceGodzilla.
