1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTinyCircuits’ TinyTV 2 looks like a tiny 1960s television, complete with clicking knobs, angled legs and startup static. It is not, however, a television: there is no broadcast tuner, Wi‑Fi, streaming app or wireless livestreaming. It is an offline video player for clips you convert on a computer and copy over USB‑C. That limitation is also the point. TinyTV 2 is best understood as a miniature display, desk ornament and retro-tech prop whose charm matters more than its utility.
What TinyTV 2 actually is
The finished TinyTV 2 is a self-contained video player styled as a mid-century television. A power switch, rotary channel control and rotary volume control operate the device, while an infrared remote is included. TinyCircuits positions it for desks, dollhouses, dioramas and model projects.
The brown case has vintage-TV proportions, four angled legs, a front speaker and a 1-inch-class IPS screen. A clear version exposes more of the electronics for a retro-futurist look. The design evokes older sets, but it is an aesthetic homage rather than a documented replica of one specific 1960s model.
Is it a real television?
No. TinyTV 2 is a television-shaped local video player. TinyCircuits’ product page explicitly says it cannot receive over-the-air television or wirelessly livestream.

USB‑C handles charging and content transfer. TinyCircuits and independent coverage also describe playback from a connected computer; that USB‑C streaming mode does not provide audio according to the review. For normal use, the intended model is stored video.

Why the retro illusion works
The pleasure is physical. Turning the channel knob scrolls through stored clips, the volume knob changes sound, and static-like animation appears when the unit starts, changes video or shuts down. The controls click like miniature appliance hardware rather than touchscreen buttons.
The remote adds to the theatrical effect, but TinyCircuits recommends using it from roughly 12–18 inches with the receiver near the top of the device. Ars Technica found the remote unreliable even within that range. The tiny set can also tip while you turn its knobs, so two-handed operation is sometimes necessary.

| Weight | Approximately 85g on the official product data |
| Connectivity | USB‑C for charging and uploads |
TinyCircuits’ stated refresh rate, reported by Ars Technica, is 30 Hz; that figure is a company specification rather than an independent measurement. The product page says the enclosure suits approximately 1:12-scale scenes, but measure your own dollhouse or model before assuming a fit.
How to load videos
You need a Windows or macOS computer, a suitable MP4 source and a USB‑C cable. The cable is not included.
- Choose footage that will survive a 216 × 135-pixel, horizontal presentation.
- Open TinyCircuits’ TinyTV Converter App documentation and use the current converter to process the MP4.
- Connect TinyTV 2 to the computer over USB‑C.
- Transfer the converted files to the device’s storage.
- Safely disconnect the player.
- Use the channel knob or remote to select a clip.
The converter exists because TinyTV 2 expects a constrained format. Do not assume every unconverted MP4 will play identically, and consult TinyCircuits’ current instructions rather than relying on guessed codec, bitrate or filename rules.

What watching is actually like
The IPS panel is sharper and more colorful than a miniature CRT would be, and bright subjects remain recognizable. But sharpness is not the same as comfortable viewing: the image is only about an inch across. Large shapes, animation, pets, faces and high-contrast scenes work best. Fine detail, small lettering and dark scenes are difficult.
Converted footage can look grainier than the source, and scrolling text may appear jerky. Vertical video wastes the traditional horizontal frame. Prepare short, bright, high-contrast loops with large text when possible. Think of the result as a moving miniature diorama or visual ornament, not a screen for a full film.
Audio limitations
The front speaker is extremely small. Dialogue, especially soft speech, can be difficult to hear outside a quiet room, and there is no documented conventional headphone output or useful external-audio connection. Clear, normalized audio helps, but sound is an incidental effect rather than a reason to buy TinyTV 2.

Best uses
- Looping pet, family, travel or holiday clips on a desk.
- A working television prop in a dollhouse, diorama or model-train scene.
- A shelf display for a retro-tech collection.
- A personalized birthday or holiday gift.
- An event or trade-show display designed to attract attention.
- A small ambient video loop in a studio or office.
These uses make the limitations productive: a short visual loop can be memorable even when a movie would be frustrating.

| Tiny Video Player Kit | $59.95; limited stock when checked | Model makers creating their own enclosure |
The TinyCircuits TinyTV collection also listed a Tiny Remote and TinyTV Housing at $9.95 each when checked. The DIY Kit includes an enclosure and electronics but is not a turnkey gift when unavailable. The Tiny Video Player Kit suits custom projects, not buyers attracted primarily to TinyTV 2’s finished retro shell. Verdict
TinyTV 2 is too small to replace a television, too limited to replace a streaming player and too impractical to justify on specifications alone. Its value is the miniature ritual: click a knob, watch static, and see a personal clip animate a television-shaped object. For a desk, diorama, gift or retro-tech collection, that is enough. For ordinary viewing, it is the wrong tool by design.
