The Vermont town that may look familiar to Beetlejuice fans is East Corinth, a hamlet in the Town of Corinth. The original film’s fictional town is Winter River, Connecticut—not Vermont—but East Corinth provided outdoor filming locations. The bridge from the opening accident was built for the movie, rather than being a historic covered bridge chosen as a location.
Where was Beetlejuice filmed in Vermont?
East Corinth, in Orange County, Vermont, supplied outdoor settings for the 1988 film. In the story, however, the characters live in the fictional Winter River, Connecticut. The Town of Corinth identifies East Corinth as a filming location for both the original film and its sequel. Town of Corinth Associated Press
That distinction matters: the recognizable Vermont scenery is a real production location, not the film’s stated story setting. The Associated Press has reported on several East Corinth locations, including the building used as Miss Shannon’s School for Girls. Associated Press
Is the Beetlejuice covered bridge real?
The bridge is real as a film-built structure, but it was not an old covered bridge repurposed for the movie. The original bridge was constructed on Chicken Farm Road for the 1988 film. What changed for the sequel?
In 2023, a new covered bridge was built at the same location for the sequel. The covered-bridge society notes that the replacement is not a true truss-supported structure. The two productions therefore did not use the same bridge structure, even though the location was reused. National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges
Where is the Beetlejuice house?
The farmhouse familiar from the film was a temporary set, not a house that remains available to visit. It was taken down after production. Some East Corinth buildings are real, but a film location may also be a set or façade, so a recognizable scene does not necessarily point to a surviving building. Associated Press Seven Days

Can you visit East Corinth’s Beetlejuice locations?
Visitors can orient themselves with a self-guided walking tour created by local resident Wade Pierson. The Associated Press described it as roughly 10 minutes long, with large signs displaying film screenshots. The presence of signs and the conditions for accessing particular spots can change, so check locally before planning around them. Associated Press
East Corinth is a lived-in rural community, not a maintained movie attraction. During the 2023 production, local reporting documented disputes over visitor parking and access. Use only legal parking, do not block driveways, and stay off private property unless you have permission. The available reporting does not establish current parking arrangements or public access to every filming spot. Seven Days
