A 100% Tomatometer means that all counted reviews in the sample were positive under Rotten Tomatoes’ scoring system; it does not mean every critic gave the season a perfect numerical rating. The sample is also relatively small, so the percentage may move as more reviews are added.
Why did the score change from the launch headline?
The 100% figure was already being reported soon after the season premiered, but it was based on a smaller sample. BGR’s April 28, 2024 launch coverage cited five critic reviews and a 97% audience score. By October 8, 2026, Rotten Tomatoes listed 11 critic reviews and an 86% audience score. The figures describe different snapshots, not a contradiction or a permanent rating. Read BGR’s launch-era report.

How does it compare with the first season?
Them: The Scare tells a separate anthology story, so its score should not be read as the score for the whole series. At the October 8, 2026 check, Rotten Tomatoes listed the first season, Them: Covenant, at 58% from 50 critic reviews, compared with season two’s 100% from 11. The review samples differ in size and can change over time; this is a snapshot rather than a like-for-like verdict on two identical stories. View the first-season listing.

Rotten Tomatoes’ critics consensus describes it as “A marked improvement with a new story, effective frights and a keen commentary on generational scars, The Scare is a scream.” That is the aggregator’s consensus, not a quotation from a single critic.
