If you want a fresh or intricate mystery, the thin story is less likely to satisfy. This is the 2026 Momoa-Bautista film, not another work with the same title.
What is The Wrecking Crew about?
Estranged half-brothers Jonny (Jason Momoa) and James (Dave Bautista) reunite in Hawaii after their father dies under mysterious circumstances. Their effort to find out what happened draws them into a conspiracy that threatens their family.
Ángel Manuel Soto directs from a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper. The cast also includes Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root and Morena Baccarin. The Guardian identifies Roimata Fox as James’s wife and Brian Keaulana as the brothers’ father, Walter.
Are Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa good together in The Wrecking Crew?
They are the film’s main reason to watch. Their characters’ strained relationship gives the action a simple emotional engine: the brothers must contend with old tensions while facing a threat to their family. Momoa and Bautista bring contrasting energies to that setup, and their back-and-forth helps the movie stay engaging when the plot follows familiar paths.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That chemistry is central to the film’s appeal, rather than a bonus attached to an especially original mystery. Rotten Tomatoes’ critics consensus describes it as “as brawny and disarmingly charming as its two leading men,” with “colorful pyrotechnics” and “a satisfying amount of attitude” making up for a thin story.
How good are the action and comedy?
Leslie Felperin’s Guardian review, published January 26, 2026, calls the film an enjoyable action-comedy throwback. Her description points to choreographed violence, stunts, explosions and quips as the pleasures of a knowingly old-fashioned formula, with sibling conflict adding a lightly updated family angle. She also notes the attractive Hawaii location photography.

The result is better approached as a pulpy genre ride than as a carefully constructed conspiracy thriller. The family material adds some feeling, but the tone stays broad and explosive; the action’s violence is part of the package, not a gentle backdrop for the jokes.
Is The Wrecking Crew worth watching?
Yes, for viewers who enjoy buddy-action comedies built around charismatic leads, loud set pieces and friction between mismatched or estranged partners. Momoa and Bautista give the familiar material enough personality to make the ride entertaining. The trade-off is a conspiracy story critics describe as thin: the film is not the best pick if your priority is surprise, intricate plotting or a mystery that rewards close deduction.
