Netflix has confirmed that The Witcher will return for Season 5, which is planned as the final chapter in Geralt’s story. There is no exact premiere date announced in the sources available as of October 8, 2026. A report published October 6 says the season is now expected in 2027, but that year has not been confirmed by Netflix.
Is The Witcher season 5 confirmed?
Yes. Netflix announced Season 5 alongside Season 4 on April 18, 2024, and described it as the final chapter in Geralt’s story. The announcement also said the two seasons would adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s remaining books: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and The Lady of the Lake. Netflix’s announcement confirms the renewal and broad adaptation plan.
That does not mean every novel event or character fate is guaranteed to appear exactly as written. Netflix has announced the source-material direction, not a scene-by-scene adaptation or a complete Season 5 plot breakdown.
When does The Witcher season 5 come out?
Netflix has not announced an exact release date or month in the sources available as of October 8, 2026. What’s on Netflix reported on October 6, 2026 that the season had moved from its earlier 2026 window and was expected in 2027. That is secondary reporting, not a Netflix-confirmed premiere year; the outlet also said an exact date or month had not been locked. See What’s on Netflix’s October 6, 2026 report.
Older references to a 2026 window should therefore be treated as outdated expectations rather than a current confirmed schedule. Release availability and timing may vary by territory.
Who is in The Witcher season 5 cast?
Confirmed for the final two seasons
Netflix’s Tudum feature confirms that Liam Hemsworth takes over as Geralt for Seasons 4 and 5. Its official Season 4 material also identifies Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, and Laurence Fishburne among the continuing series cast. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich described the two seasons as “the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.” Netflix Tudum’s cast and season feature provides that official framing.

Names reported for Season 5
GamesRadar’s Season 5 preview expects Hemsworth, Chalotra, Allan, Batey, and Fishburne to return, and lists Meng’er Zhang, Danny Woodburn, Mahesh Jadu, Bart Edwards, Sharlto Copley, Mimî M. Khayisa, Cassie Clare, Anna Shaffer, and Ellie Taylor among the cast. This is an outlet’s roundup, not Netflix’s definitive full Season 5 cast announcement; roles and participation should be treated as reported unless Netflix confirms them. GamesRadar’s preview also reproduces the series’ broad story premise.
What’s on Netflix separately reported Ellie Taylor as Duchess Anna Henrietta and discussed additional castings, while noting that at least one role, Neil Stuke’s, was inferred rather than confirmed. Do not treat that role assignment as established fact. Its casting report distinguishes some reported names from uncertain role details.

What will The Witcher season 5 be about?
Netflix’s announced plan is for Seasons 4 and 5 to adapt the remainder of Sapkowski’s saga, including Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and The Lady of the Lake. Season 5 is expected to complete that adaptation, but Netflix has not published a detailed episode-by-episode account of what it will include.
For the broad on-screen setup, GamesRadar reproduces what it identifies as Netflix’s official synopsis: “The time of the end is nigh: dark forces are aligning all across the Continent with villainous designs on Ciri. Even if Geralt and Yennefer can save their daughter and fulfill their last wish of reuniting as a family, they’ll have to face obstacles – and enemies – the likes of which they’ve never faced before.” The emphasis is on Geralt and Yennefer trying to reunite with Ciri while threats gather across the Continent; the television story may still differ from the books.

Yes. Netflix has called Season 5 the final chapter in Geralt’s story. Hissrich’s description of Seasons 4 and 5 as a two-season journey toward family reunion signals the intended direction, but it does not establish the precise ending or guarantee that every character reaches the same fate as in the novels.
