The Witcher Season 4: Cast and Character Guide

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Liam Hemsworth plays Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 4. Henry Cavill does not return; his final season as Geralt was Season 3. Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey return as Yennefer, Ciri, and Jaskier, while Laurence Fishburne joins the main cast as the mysterious barber-surgeon Regis.

Season 4 premiered worldwide on October 30, 2025, and all eight episodes are available together on Netflix. This guide separates the spoiler-free cast information from Season 4 reveals, explains the three main story groups, and identifies which characters are new to the Netflix series, returning, recast, or present only in legacy and framing material.

The quick answer: who is in The Witcher Season 4?

The Season 4 ensemble is built around three separated leads: Geralt searches for Ciri with a new traveling fellowship, Yennefer organizes a coalition of mages against Vilgefortz, and Ciri adopts the name Falka while living with the outlaw gang known as the Rats.

The biggest casting change is not a new character. It is a recast: Liam Hemsworth takes over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill. Netflix announced Hemsworth for both the fourth and fifth seasons, with Season 5 planned as the final season. The show still follows the same Geralt of Rivia; only the actor changes. See Netflix’s announcement and Hemsworth interview.

Meng’er Zhang Milva New to the Netflix series Geralt’s hansa
Mahesh Jadu Vilgefortz of Roggeveen Returning Major magical antagonist
Sharlto Copley Leo Bonhart New to the Netflix series Mercenary antagonist

Netflix’s official Season 4 character guide supplies the character descriptions, while the production announcement provides the announced ensemble cast.

Who plays Geralt in Season 4?

Liam Hemsworth plays Geralt of Rivia in Season 4. Henry Cavill is not in the season as Geralt. Cavill’s last appearance in the role was Season 3, and Netflix then announced Hemsworth as the new performer for the final two seasons.

This is a recasting of the role rather than an in-universe replacement of Geralt with another witcher. Hemsworth plays the same monster hunter, mutated witcher, and adoptive father figure who has been at the center of the series since Season 1.

Season 4 begins with Geralt injured and emotionally strained after the events of Season 3. His search for Ciri gradually changes him from a mostly solitary professional into the leader of a larger fellowship. The season also uses a future storyteller and competing versions of Geralt’s legend as a framing device, but Netflix presents that as a theme about memory and storytelling—not as an explanation that Geralt has become a different person. More detail appears in Netflix’s Season 4 ending explainer.

Spoiler-free cast guide

The following sections identify the principal actors and characters without revealing Regis’s identity, the false Ciri plot, or the major developments of the finale.

The main trio and Jaskier

Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia: The recast lead continues Geralt’s search for Ciri. His Season 4 storyline introduces the idea of a hansa—a traveling fellowship that becomes his new found family.

Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg: After the destruction of Aretuza and Tissaia’s death, Yennefer takes on a more active leadership role. Rather than simply responding to threats around Geralt and Ciri, she works to unite rival mages and oppose Vilgefortz.

Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Ciri, and Falka: Ciri is separated from Geralt and Yennefer. After escaping the desert, she finds acceptance with the Rats and begins using the name Falka. Falka is an identity Ciri adopts, not a separate character or a second actress.

Joey Batey as Jaskier: Geralt’s bard, friend, and emotional anchor remains part of Geralt’s traveling group. Season 4 also gives more attention to Jaskier’s history and to the depth of his bond with Geralt.

Netflix’s cast guide describes the three parallel storylines and the motivations of the returning leads.

Geralt’s hansa

In this context, a hansa is not a formal army or a witcher order. It is the developing traveling fellowship that forms around Geralt as he tries to reach Ciri. Jaskier and Milva are early members; Regis, Zoltan, and Cahir become important allies, while Yarpen and Percival connect to the group’s wider traveling circle.

Milva, Regis, Zoltan, and Cahir

Meng’er Zhang as Milva: Milva is a highly skilled archer, scout, and sniper with a blunt, practical manner. She becomes one of the most important new members of Geralt’s road crew, bringing both battlefield ability and an unwillingness to let Geralt avoid difficult truths.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Laurence Fishburne as Regis: At first, Regis is presented as a soft-spoken barber-surgeon with a mysterious past. He becomes a healer, confidant, and mentor-like presence within Geralt’s group. His deeper identity is a Season 4 spoiler and is explained below.

Danny Woodburn as Zoltan Chivay: Zoltan is a grizzled dwarf fighter whose loyalty, experience, and practical strength help stabilize Geralt’s increasingly large group.

Jeremy Crawford as Yarpen Zigrin: Yarpen is a returning dwarf ally who comes back into Geralt’s orbit. He is familiar to viewers from earlier parts of the Netflix story.

Linden Porco as Percival Schuttenbach: Percival belongs to the wider traveling ensemble associated with Geralt’s fellowship. Netflix’s production announcement lists him among the Season 4 cast, although general promotional coverage gives him less emphasis than Regis, Milva, Zoltan, or Cahir.

Eamon Farren as Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach: Cahir begins Season 4 as a prisoner. He must try to earn the trust of Geralt’s companions while confronting his past connection to Ciri. He is a returning character whose place in the group is one of the season’s important tensions.

Why the hansa matters

Geralt’s companions change the shape of his story. Earlier seasons often framed him as a lone professional moving from contract to contract. Season 4 places him in a group whose members have different skills, loyalties, and reasons for traveling. The hansa gives Geralt practical help in the search for Ciri, but it also forces him to accept friendship, responsibility, and leadership.

Ciri and the Rats

The Rats are a young gang of outlaws and thieves who offer Ciri something Geralt and Yennefer cannot provide while she is separated from them: immediate belonging, freedom, and a new identity. The group’s support also draws Ciri toward a more violent and rebellious persona.

The members of the Rats

Christelle Elwin as Mistle: Mistle is the Rats’ enforcer—loyal, dangerous, and emotionally intertwined with Ciri’s Falka identity. Their relationship combines dependence, attraction, and tension.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Ben Radcliffe as Giselher: Giselher is the gang’s smooth-talking strategist and leader figure.

Fabian McCallum as Kayleigh: Kayleigh is the group’s fearless daredevil.

Aggy K. Adams as Iskra: Iskra is the sensible quartermaster and cook, helping keep the gang supplied and organized.

Juliette Alexandra as Reef: Reef is the serious and observant lookout.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Connor Crawford as Asse: Asse is a sly pickpocket and one of the Rats.

What does Falka mean for Ciri?

Falka is Ciri’s adopted name and persona. She is not a separate character, an impostor, or a different version of Ciri from another timeline. The name represents the darker identity Ciri explores after the trauma and isolation of Season 3.

The identity is also connected to Ciri’s anger and desire to reject the roles imposed on her as a princess, heir, and prophesied figure. Season 4 uses Falka to show both Ciri’s search for autonomy and the danger of allowing a violent group to define that autonomy for her.

Yennefer’s mages and magical factions

Yennefer’s storyline is centered on rebuilding magical cooperation after the catastrophe at Aretuza. Her objective is to counter Vilgefortz and make the Continent safer for Ciri’s eventual return.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg: Yennefer becomes an organizer and political leader. Her conflict with Vilgefortz is no longer only personal; she is trying to create a stronger alliance among mages with competing interests.

Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz of Roggeveen: Vilgefortz remains one of the Continent’s most powerful mages and the principal magical threat. At the start of Season 4, he operates outside the traditional Brotherhood structure and is aligned with Nilfgaard.

Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold: Triss is a healer and botanist-scholar who develops a harder, more forceful edge as the season progresses.

Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina Glevissig: Sabrina is a sharp and pragmatic sorceress helping the mages regroup after the destruction of Aretuza.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mimî M. Khayisa as Fringilla Vigo: Fringilla is a strategist attempting to survive independently while reassessing where her loyalties belong.

Cassie Clare as Philippa Eilhart: Philippa is a shapeshifting political operator who helps steer Redanian interests while keeping her true loyalties uncertain.

Rochelle Rose as Margarita Laux-Antille: Margarita is part of the wider sorceress ensemble listed in Netflix’s official production cast announcement.

Safiyya Ingar as Keira Metz: Keira is another mage included in Netflix’s announced Season 4 ensemble.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Royce Pierreson as Istredd: Istredd is a returning scholar and mage whose connection to Yennefer and the wider magical world remains part of the season’s ensemble.

Mecia Simson as Francesca: Francesca is a returning elven leader whose presence connects the magical and political conflicts to the Continent’s elven population.

The official Netflix spelling is Mimî M. Khayisa. Some secondary databases retain older or inconsistent metadata for the role, but Netflix’s production announcement and Tudum cast guide identify Khayisa as Fringilla in Season 4.

Nilfgaard, Redania, and the human antagonists

The search for Ciri is not only a family story. Nilfgaard, Redania, spies, emperors, and hired killers all have reasons to control or capture her.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bart Edwards as Emhyr var Emreis: Emhyr is the emperor of Nilfgaard and Ciri’s biological father. His pursuit of Ciri remains one of the season’s central political threats.

Frances Pooley as Teryn: Teryn is a young woman caught up in Nilfgaard’s Ciri plot. Her precise status is a spoiler and is explained in the Season 4 reveals section.

James Purefoy as Stefan Skellen: Skellen is Emhyr’s spymaster, fixer, interrogator, and political problem-solver. Netflix’s official materials use the spelling Stefan Skellen, although some secondary sources write the first name as Steffan.

Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart: Bonhart is a brutal mercenary and bounty hunter hired to pursue the Rats and Ciri. He is one of Season 4’s most significant new human villains—not merely another interchangeable tracker.

Hugh Skinner as Prince Radovid: Radovid is a formerly carefree prince forced to deal with Redania’s instability. Season 4 places him in the position of deciding whether he will be manipulated by stronger political players or become one himself.

Graham McTavish as Sigismund Dijkstra: Dijkstra is Redania’s spymaster. His position is weakened after King Vizimir’s death, but his intelligence network and political influence remain important.

Legacy and framing-story characters

MyAnna Buring as Tissaia de Vries

Tissaia died at the end of Season 3, so she is not an active Season 4 character in the same way as Yennefer, Triss, or Vilgefortz. MyAnna Buring is nevertheless listed in Season 4 episode-credit material, reflecting retrospective, memory-based, or legacy material. Tissaia should therefore be described as a returning appearance connected to the past—not as a character who has been resurrected.

Her death is central to Yennefer’s Season 4 motivation: Yennefer is dealing with the destruction of Aretuza and the loss of her mentor while trying to prevent Vilgefortz from controlling the magical future.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Stribog and Nimue

Season 4 adds a framing story set roughly a century after the main events.

Clive Russell as Stribog: Stribog is a future storyteller narrating the legend of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer.

Eve Ridley as young Nimue: Young Nimue challenges Stribog’s version of the Witcher’s story and becomes fascinated by Ciri’s legend.

Sha Dessi as adult Nimue: Adult Nimue is the older version of the character, preparing to continue her own magical journey.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The framing material is not a conventional flashback. It takes place approximately 100 years after the main storyline and explores how stories change as they are retold. Netflix explains the device in its Season 4 finale breakdown.

New, returning, recast, and legacy characters at a glance

  • Recast lead: Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. The character returns, but Henry Cavill does not.
  • Returning principal characters: Yennefer, Ciri, Jaskier, Cahir, Triss, Vilgefortz, Fringilla, Philippa, Istredd, Francesca, Radovid, and Dijkstra.
  • New to the Netflix main series: Regis, Milva, Zoltan, Leo Bonhart, Stefan Skellen, Teryn, and the members of the Rats.
  • Returning dwarves and traveling allies: Yarpen Zigrin and the wider group that includes Percival Schuttenbach.
  • Legacy material: Tissaia, whose death occurred before Season 4, appears through retrospective or memory-related material.
  • Framing-story characters: Stribog and the two versions of Nimue belong to the future storyteller plot rather than the main period of Geralt’s adventures.

How many episodes are in Season 4?

The Witcher Season 4 has eight episodes, and Netflix released all eight at once on October 30, 2025. There was no two-volume split for this season.

  1. What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger
  2. Dream of a Wish Fulfilled
  3. Trial by Ordeal
  4. A Sermon of Survival
  5. The Joy of Cooking
  6. Twilight of the Wolf
  7. What I Love I Do Not Carry
  8. Baptism of Fire

The release information is confirmed by Netflix’s Season 4 release announcement. The episode list is also recorded by Rotten Tomatoes, although Netflix’s own pages should take priority for release and casting facts.

Is Season 4 the final season?

No. Season 4 is the penultimate season. Netflix has announced Season 5 as the final season of the series, and Seasons 4 and 5 were filmed back-to-back.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Netflix says the final two seasons will adapt material from Andrzej Sapkowski’s remaining saga novels: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and The Lady of the Lake. That does not mean Season 4 is a literal scene-by-scene adaptation of only Baptism of Fire; the season and its finale title draw from the broader remaining adaptation plan.

No specific Season 5 premiere date should be treated as confirmed here. The official announcement confirms the season’s existence and final-season status, not a reliable release date. See About Netflix’s production announcement.

Do you need to watch The Rats: A Witcher Tale?

No. The Rats: A Witcher Tale is useful companion viewing, but it is not required to understand the Season 4 cast or main plot.

The separate Netflix special focuses on how the Rats formed before they met Ciri. It also expands the gang’s history and shows how Leo Bonhart came to target them. Watching it can add context to Ciri’s new companions and Bonhart’s threat, but it is not Season 4 proper and should not be counted among its eight episodes.

Netflix discusses the special and its relationship to Season 4 in the Hemsworth and Season 5 feature.

Book and game comparison

Many of Season 4’s new characters are familiar to readers of Sapkowski’s books, and some are also known to players of CD Projekt Red’s games. Regis and Zoltan, for example, have prominent game associations, while Milva, Bonhart, Skellen, and the Rats are important names from the book saga.

That familiarity does not make the books, games, and television series interchangeable. Netflix’s show can change chronology, characterization, relationships, political arrangements, and outcomes. The game versions are not a substitute for the Netflix continuity, and the Netflix versions should not be judged as if they were required to reproduce every detail of the novels.

The safest way to read the cast list is:

  • Netflix character: use the Season 4 show and Netflix’s official character descriptions for the character’s current role.
  • Book origin: recognize that the character may have a different history or emphasis in Sapkowski’s saga.
  • Game appearance: treat the games as a separate adaptation rather than a continuity guide for the television series.

Season 4 is also separate from The Witcher: Blood Origin, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, and The Rats: A Witcher Tale. The last is a companion special, not a replacement for Season 4.

Where the major characters stand by the Season 4 finale

Season 4 leaves the three leads on separate paths rather than restoring the family unit established earlier in the series.

Geralt: Geralt continues the search for Ciri with the hansa. The experience pushes him toward leadership and makes his companions central to his story rather than temporary assistants on a monster contract.

Yennefer: Yennefer continues building a magical coalition and opposing Vilgefortz. Her political purpose is tied to protecting Ciri and preventing the Continent’s magical institutions from being controlled by him.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Ciri: Ciri remains associated with the Rats and continues exploring the Falka identity. The alias is a role she has chosen, not evidence that the real Ciri has been replaced.

Regis: Regis’s mysterious past is finally clarified: he is a higher vampire. In Netflix’s mythology, higher vampires are born vampires rather than ordinary people infected with or transformed into vampires. His identity makes him a powerful supernatural figure, but it does not erase his role as a healer, confidant, and important ally to Geralt.

Teryn: Teryn has been manipulated into believing that she is Ciri and is used by Emhyr and Vilgefortz as a false replacement for the real princess. This is why reports of Ciri’s whereabouts can conflict with the audience’s understanding of where Ciri actually is.

Leo Bonhart and the Rats: Bonhart is hired to pursue the Rats and Ciri/Falka. His connection to the gang is expanded by The Rats: A Witcher Tale, while Season 4 establishes him as the major human threat pressing in on Ciri’s new life.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tissaia: Tissaia remains dead after Season 3. Any Season 4 credit for MyAnna Buring reflects legacy or retrospective material rather than a return to the active present-day storyline.

Stribog and Nimue: Their scenes take place around a century after the main events. Stribog tells a version of the Witcher’s legend, while Nimue questions how that legend has been preserved and prepares for her own magical path. The framing plot is designed to show that the history of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri has become a story interpreted by later generations.

For the full sequence of finale reveals and episode-by-episode consequences, consult Netflix’s official ending explainer. It contains major plot details beyond this cast guide.
