The Associated Press reports two real properties used for production: Hôtel Martinez in Cannes and Airelles Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez. The show gives these properties fictional names, so the real hotels should not be confused with the White Lotus resorts in the series.
Which real hotels appear, and what are their fictional names?
| Real property | Location | Fictional name in the series | What is established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hôtel Martinez | Cannes | White Lotus Cannes | AP reports it as a production location. |
| Airelles Château de la Messardière | Saint-Tropez | White Lotus du Cap | AP reports it as a production location. Variety had reported the Saint-Tropez castle hotel as a filming location in January 2026. |
These are production-location reports, not a claim that the fictional resort names are the hotels’ real names. The available reporting does not establish a comparison of the properties’ prices, amenities, or quality. The Associated Press report identifies both properties and their fictional counterparts; Variety’s January 2026 report earlier named the Saint-Tropez location.

Is Season 4 set during the Cannes Film Festival?
Yes. HBO’s logline says the season follows guests and employees over one week during the Cannes Film Festival. That confirms the festival as the story’s setting; it is separate from the question of where particular scenes were filmed. Cannes and Saint-Tropez are both named in location reporting, but the official announcement does not present a complete filming itinerary.
What did producer David Bernad reveal about the setting?
AP reports that producer David Bernad traced the Cannes idea to a 2021 trip there with series creator Mike White. Bernad recalled an interaction at a restaurant between a waiter and maître d’ that helped crystallize a recognizable social dynamic for the series. He also described the season as following people navigating Cannes and the festival’s ups and downs. These are paraphrases of reported remarks, not direct quotations.

Has HBO announced a premiere date?
The HBO announcement and location reports cited here do not establish a confirmed premiere date. HBO’s April 15, 2026 announcement confirms that filming began in France, but it does not state when the season will premiere.
