Spoilers for all of The Wheel of Time Season 2, including the Falme finale. Season 3 is already streaming on Prime Video, so this is a catch-up guide for viewers starting it or returning to the story. The essentials: Rand is publicly revealed as the Dragon Reborn, Mat blows the Horn of Valere, Egwene escapes her Seanchan captor, and the Forsaken threat grows.
How Season 2 leaves the characters
The Emond’s Field friends spend much of Season 2 separated, facing different dangers before their stories converge at Falme. These are the key endpoints to carry into Season 3.
Rand is revealed as the Dragon Reborn
At Falme, Rand’s identity becomes public. The battle’s image of a flaming dragon and his defeat of Ishamael make clear to those watching that he is the Dragon Reborn. The heron-marked blade scars on his palms also connect him to the prophecy imagery highlighted in the finale. Rand has defeated Ishamael, not the Dark One, and the conflict is far from over. TheWrap’s Season 2 finale recap covers the reveal; Amazon’s Season 3 guide frames the remaining Forsaken as threats pursuing Rand.
Mat blows the Horn of Valere
Mat uses the Horn during the battle, summoning the Heroes of the Horn to fight. The finale also presents signs of change in Mat: his combat ability appears to improve, and he occasionally speaks in the Old Tongue. These are apparent developments, not a fully explained new power.

Egwene breaks free of the Seanchan collar
During the battle, Egwene turns the collar used to control her against her captor and frees herself. It is a hard-won victory, but her captivity has left psychological scars; her escape does not erase what she endured.
Moiraine and Lan face danger without her former power
At the start of the season, Moiraine has found Rand but lost her ability to access the One Power. She and Lan must navigate danger without the strength she once wielded. That is important context for their season, though it is not the entirety of Moiraine’s story. In Amazon’s Season 2 cast guide, Rosamund Pike describes playing Moiraine’s courage without magic: “I miss channeling, of course. I miss having the magic,” she said. “But, I have enjoyed presenting Moiraine’s true courage—which is impressive, to say the least, because she’s going up against people far stronger than her, people who would be far stronger than her if she did have the power, and she’s doing it empty-handed, as it were.”

Why the finale’s Forsaken reveal matters
The danger expands beyond Ishamael and Lanfear. In the final scene, Moghedien appears in Ishamael’s room and quickly restrains Lanfear, showing that another formidable Forsaken is active. Amazon’s Season 3 guide says the remaining Forsaken are pursuing Rand, so Ishamael’s defeat does not end the threat.

Season 3 is streaming on Prime Video and draws on Robert Jordan’s 1992 novel The Shadow Rising, according to Amazon’s season guide. Its story stakes are new developments, not events from the Season 2 finale: the White Tower is divided, the Black Ajah is at large, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the Forsaken pursue Rand. For a quick viewing refresher, Prime Video’s catalog page lists Season 3 and includes a Season 1 and 2 recap among its bonus items; catalog access can vary by region.
