That makes him dangerous in principle, but the episode gives his scheme less force than the larger threat posed by Guillermo’s operation—and its failed ambush leaves Daryl and Paz with a more immediate, brutal consequence.
What happens in “Contrabando”
“Contrabando” is Season 3, Episode 6 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Apple TV lists the 50-minute episode as released October 12, 2025, with the synopsis: “Daryl and Paz in Barcelona. Carol and Antonio face the fallout of Solaz.” (Apple TV)
The episode splits its attention between Carol’s discovery in Solaz and Daryl’s attempt to rescue Justina. One story exposes a betrayal and gets medicine to a sick child; the other ends in a failed rescue that leaves a captive in enemy hands.
Fede’s scheme is cruel, but the menace does not quite land
Fede’s threat is not abstract. Roberto is ill, and Fede controls access to medicine while telling Carol that supplies must be rationed. Carol eventually breaks into his home to get aspirin. Doña Marga catches her, but Carol convinces her that Fede has been lying and poisoning Roberto to keep him sick. Roberto’s fever breaks after he receives the medicine, and Carol wants to leave Solaz with him and Antonio. (TVLine’s recap)

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That is a serious abuse of power: Fede exploits a child’s illness and the community’s reliance on a leader who controls scarce medicine. It gives Carol a clear reason to take risks, and it makes the conflict personal rather than merely political.
Yet the episode’s evidence of Fede’s wrongdoing is stronger than its presentation of him as a credible ongoing danger. His leverage is concentrated in the lie about Roberto and the medicine, and the story’s immediate turning point is Carol exposing that lie to Doña Marga. The harm is real, but the episode gives less weight to what Fede can do next, or how dangerous it is to challenge him, than to the fact of Carol’s discovery. The result is a villain whose actions are repellent without consistently making him feel powerful.

Guillermo’s convoy makes the sharper threat
Daryl is still trying to free Justina from El Alcázar when Paz catches up with him. They enlist a refugee community to ambush Guillermo’s convoy. Paz’s past relationship with Elena, Guillermo’s wife, complicates the attack: Laia wants to use a bazooka to kill Guillermo, but Paz stops her because the shot would also kill Elena. (Ready Steady Cut’s recap)
The ambush fails. The blast frees nearby walkers, Laia dies, Daryl cannot get Justina out, and Guillermo escapes with her. The setback makes Guillermo’s organization feel dangerous through control of movement and the immediate cost of resistance. Unlike Fede’s concealed harm, this threat is visible in the convoy, the captive, and the consequences of a failed attack.

This contrast is why Fede can seem like the weaker villain in this episode without being harmless. He has already hurt Roberto, but Guillermo’s group leaves Daryl and Paz facing a continuing rescue problem—and leaves the audience with a clearer sense of what failure costs.
Why the two setbacks matter
The parallel structure gives “Contrabando” a useful tension. Carol uncovers a local betrayal and gets medicine to Roberto; Daryl and Paz make a rescue attempt, but Justina remains captive. One thread turns on revealing what a leader has done. The other turns on the limits of force when a captive, a personal history, and walkers all complicate the plan.

Fede’s story has the closer emotional stake because it centers on a sick child and Carol’s willingness to defy the person withholding medicine. Guillermo’s story has the stronger ongoing menace because the ambush produces visible losses without resolving the danger. On the evidence of this episode alone, calling Fede the show’s “weakest villain” is a critical judgment, not an established fact; the more precise point is that his cruelty is clear while his capacity to remain a threat is less strongly dramatized here.
