Maelyn Jarmon continued making music after winning The Voice Season 16 in 2019, then expanded into musical theater. A TV Insider update published April 6, 2026, reports that she performed her single “Dreamboat” on the show in May 2025, continued recording and performing live, and appeared in productions of The Last Five Years and Jesus Christ Superstar.
How Maelyn Jarmon’s career developed after The Voice
Jarmon won Season 16 in May 2019. The Washington Post reported that the New York-based singer received a record deal and a $100,000 prize; the award was a competition prize, not a measure of her later earnings. The morning after the finale, three of her songs were in iTunes’ Top 10, a brief chart snapshot reported at the time—not evidence of lasting chart performance. The Washington Post’s May 22, 2019 report
In the months after her win, Jarmon spoke about making original music and building a career beyond the television competition. The clearest later account traces both continued music work and a move into theater.
2019: Original songs and post-show plans
Jarmon debuted the original song “Wait for You” during the Season 16 finale performance show. In a May 2019 interview, she described herself as a songwriter and discussed the collaborative recording process. TVMusic Network, May 23, 2019

Immediately after winning, she said she was ready to record and had songs in progress. She was considering whether to release a single, EP or album, and said her songwriting drew on personal experience. Those comments described her plans at the time, not confirmation that each proposed release followed. HollywoodLife, May 23, 2019

She described the win as a starting point, not a finished career
By July 2019, Jarmon had signed with Republic Records, was meeting with label staff and coach John Legend, and planned to move to Los Angeles. The Washington Post reported that she expected to release singles followed by an EP, while noting her view that success has no fixed formula. These were contemporary plans and circumstances; they do not establish her later label relationship or a subsequent full album.
“It’s meant to be a platform to help the artist with that first push. But you have to put the work in afterwards.”

Jarmon’s documented career after the competition is not a simple story of instant stardom. The available milestones show an early catalog of The Voice performances and original songwriting, followed by continued recording and live work and a later presence in theater. Her own 2019 description of the show as a platform fits that trajectory: winning brought exposure and an award, while her subsequent work continued beyond the televised season.
