Season 26, Episode 12 of The Voice, titled “The Knockouts Premiere,” aired November 11, 2024, and opened the show’s knockout round. Each of the four teams put three artists into a solo matchup. The coach picked one artist to advance, and each coach also had one save and one steal to keep another artist in the competition. Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé were the first-time coaches on this run, which is the most likely reading of the headline’s “rookies.” Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani coached the other two teams.

How the format shaped the choices
The headline’s claim that rookies “bring strategy” is an interpretation. The sources document what each coach did, but not why. What the outcomes do show is how the tools were spent. Snoop used his save on a matchup he did not win outright, while Gwen used her steal on a Team Snoop artist. Michael used both tools in the same episode: a steal from Team Reba and a save for his own artist, Sloane Simon.
That split matters for the format. Every advancement removed two artists from the bracket, but a save or steal could bring one back. A coach who holds a steal can therefore keep an artist alive from another team, and that choice changes the competition as much as the advancement itself.

The Team Bublé matchup had two artists
Team Bublé was the one exception to the three-artist format in this episode. Tanner Frick withdrew before the matchup, so Cameron Wright faced only Sloane Simon. Michael Bublé’s save then kept Sloane in play. Readers comparing this episode with others should treat that matchup as a two-artist case rather than a standard knockout.
