1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAs of October 8, 2026, we cannot verify ten former WWE Superstars aged 55 or over who are wrestling today. A name qualifies only when two separate facts are documented: a real WWE career and a dated, recent match or event appearance. Few candidates clear both bars, and several names that circulate online rely on a career history or an unverified claim of activity. This article sets out what is established, who has been ruled out, and which names still lack the evidence needed to be listed.
The two tests every name must pass
Being a former WWE Superstar and being an active wrestler are different questions, and each needs its own proof.
- WWE connection. A WWE-published biography, a WWE Hall of Fame profile, or an equivalent official WWE record showing the person performed for the company.
- Current activity. A dated match result, event card, or performer announcement from the past twelve months, which is how this article defines “still wrestling today.” A long career, a historical match, or a list describing someone as active does not on its own establish current activity.
- Age on the as-of date. A documented birth date showing the person is 55 or older on the day the article is checked.
Where each name stands
The table below reflects the sources reviewed for this article. “Not stated” means the source does not address that point.
| Name | Documented WWE connection | Dated recent match evidence | Status as of October 8, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jerry Lawler | Yes, per WWE’s official biography | Not stated | Historical longevity only; not listed |
| Ric Flair | Yes, per WWE’s official biography | None found; the biography describes his 2008 WrestleMania match against Shawn Michaels as a final match | Not eligible |
| Dory Funk Jr. | Yes, per WWE’s profile of The Funks, which lists him as a Hall of Fame performer | Not applicable; his official site reports he died on August 4, 2026 | Excluded |
| Bushwhacker Luke | Not stated in sources reviewed | Listed as active on a continuously updated secondary list; no dated match found | Unverified |
| Mike Jackson | Not stated in sources reviewed | Listed as active on the same secondary list; no dated match found | Unverified |
| Tommy Rich | Not stated in sources reviewed | Listed as active on the same secondary list; no dated match found | Unverified |
| Ricky Morton | Not stated in sources reviewed | Listed as active on the same secondary list; no dated match found | Unverified |
| Tony Atlas | Not stated in sources reviewed | Listed as still wrestling on a second secondary list; no dated match found | Unverified |
Ruled out
Dory Funk Jr.
WWE’s profile of The Funks documents Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk as Hall of Fame performers. Dory Funk Jr.’s official site reports that he died on August 4, 2026, so he cannot appear on a list of people wrestling today.

Ric Flair
WWE’s biography of Ric Flair covers his WWE career and identifies his 2008 WrestleMania match against Shawn Michaels as a final match. That establishes a WWE history, but no recent match was found, so Flair does not meet the current-activity test. He would only qualify with a dated appearance from the past year.
Historical, not current
Jerry Lawler
WWE’s official biography of Jerry Lawler describes a WWE Championship challenge against The Miz and characterises his career as spanning a fifth decade in wrestling. That confirms a long WWE history and is strong background for a feature, but the biography does not state that he is competing today. Lawler stays off the list until a dated, recent match is documented.

Leads still awaiting verification
The names below appear on secondary sources that describe older wrestlers as active. Those lists are useful for finding candidates, but they do not establish WWE history or match dates, so none of these people can be listed yet.
Bushwhacker Luke, Mike Jackson, Tommy Rich and Ricky Morton
A continuously updated secondary list names these four as still wrestling or active. Each would need a documented WWE career from an official source and a dated match or event appearance from the past year.

Tony Atlas
A second secondary list names Tony Atlas among older wrestlers still wrestling. His WWE connection and recent match activity both need confirmation from primary sources, such as WWE’s own records and promotion cards or results published by the promoters involved, before he could be included.
What would change the answer
The list becomes publishable when at least ten people each have a dated match or event within the past twelve months and an official WWE record of their career. Until then, a reader should treat any ten-name list online as unverified, particularly if it does not give the date of each person’s most recent match.
- Check the WWE record first, then the most recent dated match.
- Confirm the person is 55 or older on the day of checking.
- Note whether a date appears on the promotion’s own card or result page.
The gap is not a sign that these veterans have stopped wrestling. It means the evidence needed to say so with precision has not been gathered and published yet.
