Her earlier account: diet and walking
Metz said a panic attack on her birthday prompted her to change course. She reported losing 100 pounds in less than five months while eating 2,000 calories a day and walking for 20 minutes daily, according to Women’s Health’s account of her interview with the Daily Mail. That is a retrospective description of her own experience, not a recommended diet or exercise plan for readers.
Strength training in a later phase
In 2025, Metz discussed lifting weights and working with a personal trainer whose approach felt supportive. She described strength and long-term health as priorities, rather than framing progress solely around a scale target. Women’s Health also records her past comments about body positivity and her character’s storyline on This Is Us; she later clarified that weight loss was not contractually required.
Did Chrissy Metz take Ozempic?
In 2026 interviews, Metz disclosed using a GLP-1 medication, but the reporting reviewed does not identify a specific drug or dose. That means it is not established here that she took Ozempic specifically. “GLP-1” refers to a class of medicines, not one brand name; do not treat the terms as interchangeable proof of a particular prescription.

Metz told PEOPLE she had been skeptical and reconsidered amid concerns about obesity-related health issues in her family and her own changing health priorities. She also described continuing to work with a trainer and lift weights. Her account is personal testimony, not a clinical report or an endorsement that establishes what treatment is suitable for anyone else.

There are two reported figures from different periods and sources. They should not be added together or presented as one independently verified, continuous total.

What has Metz said about GLP-1 effects and her goals?
Metz has described less preoccupation with food, improved mobility, and changes in joint pain, inflammation and energy as her personal experiences. The Daily Beast reported that she had not publicly detailed negative side effects; that means the coverage did not report them, not that she had none.

She has also said she does not want a fixed scale number to define success. In a PEOPLE interview, she described focusing on comfort, strength and what she is capable of, while continuing to lift and build muscle. These are her stated aims and experiences, not a promise of similar results for other people.
