In series three of the UK The Traitors, the role of a banished finalist was no longer revealed. The remaining players had to decide whether a Traitor was still in the game without that confirmation—a change intended to make their endgame decision harder.
What changed in The Traitors season 3?
The change applied to the endgame, not every banishment or the entire format. When a finalist was banished, the others did not learn whether that person had been a Faithful or a Traitor. They had to judge for themselves whether a Traitor remained and whether to continue or end the game.

What did Claudia Winkleman say before the series?
Before the launch, host Claudia Winkleman previewed changes without identifying this specific endgame rule. In a December 10, 2024 report by The Independent, she said: “What I will tell you is that things are different this year. There are some really exciting things that have changed, which keeps everyone on the toes and feeds into the central premise of trust!”
The concrete detail about finalists not learning a banished player’s role was reported after the premiere. Radio Times coverage described the rule and its intended effect: making it more difficult for players to decide when to end the game.

Why does withholding the role matter?
A role reveal gives the remaining players a clear piece of evidence after a banishment. Without it, they have to interpret what they have seen and decide whether they can safely stop—or whether a Traitor may still be among them. The rule therefore removes an information cue from the final choice and increases uncertainty.
That is the reported purpose of the change, not proof that it caused a particular result. The available coverage does not provide a named statistic measuring the rule’s effect.

This change concerns the UK series hosted by Claudia Winkleman, specifically its third series. Peacock described the season as a 12-episode competition with 25 players and a potential prize of up to £120,000 in its season-three overview. Those details describe the series, not the effect of the endgame rule.
Peacock said all 12 episodes were available there as of March 10, 2025, according to its release-date article. Streaming catalogs and territorial access can change, so check Peacock’s current listing for your location before relying on that availability.
