The program says Canadian Air Force personnel heard the sounds from the first day of the search, but the material cited in coverage does not establish what caused them or prove they came from people aboard the submersible.
What the documentary reveals about the knocking sounds
ITN’s description says reports of banging emerged publicly late on the second day of the search. The Canadian Air Force, however, said it had heard the sounds from the first day and on every search flight. The distinction is between when the sounds were detected and when reports about them appeared publicly; those are not the same event. Channel 5’s program description presents the audio as part of the search account.
Former British submarine commander Ryan Ramsey described the pattern as unusual and rhythmic: “The symmetry between those knockings is very unusual. It’s rhythmic, it’s like somebody is making that sound, and the fact that it is repeated is really unusual.” That is Ramsey’s interpretation of the sound pattern, not confirmation of its source. ComingSoon’s report on the documentary attributes the comment to him.
What the audio does not prove
The available descriptions do not identify the cause of the banging or establish that it came from inside Titan. They do not confirm that it was a distress signal or prove anyone aboard was alive when the sounds were detected. The distributor’s own description frames whether the sounds could have come from Titan as a question rather than a settled finding. ITN’s documentary page

What The Titan Sub Disaster: Minute by Minute covers
Channel 5 scheduled the documentary as a two-part account of the effort to find Titan and the lessons raised by the disaster. It identifies the five people aboard and recounts the loss of contact with the support vessel Polar Prince. ComingSoon reported that contact was lost one hour and 45 minutes into Titan’s dive; that is a timeline detail reported in its coverage, not an independent investigation finding. ComingSoon’s report
Where to watch the documentary
SBS On Demand currently lists the documentary as a season with two episodes, each listed at 44 minutes. Streaming catalogs and territory rights can change, so the listing is not a guarantee that the program is available everywhere or will remain available. Dexerto reported in May 2024 that it was available through the UK’s My5 service; that is historical information, not confirmation of current access. Dexerto’s May 2024 report
