Spoilers for all eight episodes of Season 2. Susannah’s death brings Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah back to Cousins Beach, where they face the possible loss of her house—and the feelings they have tried to leave behind. By the finale, the house is saved, Belly chooses Jeremiah, and she begins finding her way back to volleyball.
Where Season 2 begins
About a year has passed since Season 1. Susannah’s cancer has returned, and she has died. Belly and Conrad have broken up, while Jeremiah is still dealing with his feelings for Belly and his resentment toward his brother. The grief affects the whole group, but the season’s central crisis gives them a shared reason to return to Cousins Beach.
Why the Fisher house is at risk
Susannah’s estranged sister Julia is preparing to sell the beach house. Conrad and Jeremiah want to keep it in the family, and Belly, Steven, and Taylor become involved in the effort. The brothers eventually persuade their father to move assets and buy the house, preventing its sale.
How Belly and the brothers reconnect
Searching for Conrad and trying to save the house bring Belly and Jeremiah closer again. Belly’s history with Conrad remains powerful, though: he still loves her, and he admits it. The season keeps the brothers’ conflict and Belly’s grief intertwined, rather than making her decision a simple choice between two romances.

What happens in the finale
The drive and motel stop
The final episode follows Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah on the drive home from Brown after Conrad finishes his exams. Conrad has seen Belly and Jeremiah kiss, and the tension among them escalates. A storm closes the highway, forcing them to stop at a motel. There is one bed; the brothers sleep on the floor on either side of Belly.
Belly chooses Jeremiah
The next morning, Belly’s choice is conveyed through a small detail: she wears her Finch sweatshirt and leaves Conrad’s Brown sweatshirt behind. Jeremiah has gone to get breakfast. Belly finds him and kisses him, making clear that she wants to be with him.

Belly returns to volleyball
The finale also brings the focus back to Belly beyond the love triangle. She returns to the volleyball court, a step toward a life that is her own. Amazon’s season recap connects that return with Belly beginning to move out of depression.

What to carry into Season 3
- Susannah has died, and the characters are still living with their grief.
- The Fisher beach house is no longer facing sale: the brothers’ father buys it and keeps it in the family.
- Belly chooses Jeremiah, even after Conrad tells her he still loves her.
- Belly’s return to volleyball signals movement toward reclaiming her own life, not just a relationship decision.
The ending establishes Belly’s choice at this point in the story; it does not resolve the whole series. Season 3 follows that unresolved future. Amazon describes the show as an adaptation of Jenny Han’s bestselling book trilogy; the books are the source material for readers who want the story in its original format.
