The Squad Members Now: What Happened to the Kids Who Sued Piper Rockelle’s Mom

Eleven young creators and their guardians sued Piper Rockelle’s mother, Tiffany Smith, in January 2022, alleging inadequate compensation and abusive conduct connected to video production. Smith denied the allegations. The case settled for $1.85 million in October 2024, but there was no trial verdict establishing the disputed claims. The clearest public follow-up is the 2025 Netflix docuseries Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing, which features some former Squad members and their families. Reporting does not establish a comprehensive current update for all 11 plaintiffs.

Who were the Squad members?

The Squad was a changing group of young creators who appeared in videos built around Piper Rockelle. The Los Angeles Times reported that Tiffany Smith assembled a group of children around Rockelle beginning in 2018. Names associated with the group include Sophie Fergi, Hayden Haas, Symonne Harrison, Corinne Joy, Gavin Magnus, Jentzen Ramirez, Claire RockSmith and Sawyer Sharbino. This is a partial roster, not a verified list of all 11 plaintiffs.

Because the group’s membership changed over time, “former Squad members” does not describe one fixed lineup. Nor does appearing in the group establish that someone was among the people who brought the lawsuit.

What happened in the lawsuit?

  1. January 2022 — Complaint filed. Eleven young actors and their guardians filed a civil complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The plaintiffs alleged inadequate compensation and emotional, physical and sexual abuse connected to video production. These were allegations, not findings by a court. The Los Angeles Times reported on the case and its outcome.
  2. Smith denied the allegations. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Smith said: “This whole case is based on lies that are driven by financial jealousy.” That was her characterization of the case.
  3. The plaintiffs sought at least $22 million. That was the amount requested in the case, not a court award.
  4. October 2024 — Settlement reported. The case settled for $1.85 million, according to the Los Angeles Times. A settlement resolves a case without a trial verdict; it does not establish the disputed allegations as proven.

What did former members say afterward?

The three-part Netflix docuseries Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing was released on April 9, 2025, according to TIME’s coverage. A Los Angeles Times retrospective says the series features former Squad members, parents, collaborators, journalists and experts. Participants discuss their recollections and the strain they say they experienced while making content. These are personal accounts presented in a documentary, not separate judicial findings.

Former member Sawyer Sharbino, speaking in the documentary as reported by the Los Angeles Times, said: “Eventually, it became you’re just being told what to do like you’re a puppet.” Matthew Sarelson, attorney for the plaintiffs, told the paper: “I’m happy and relieved for my clients,” and described them as “11 kids who endured an abusive environment and had the courage to speak out publicly.” Those statements reflect the speakers’ perspectives; they do not change the legal status of the settlement.

Where are the former members now?

There is no verified, comprehensive public account of what each of the 11 plaintiffs is doing today. Some former members have spoken publicly through Bad Influence, but the documentary and available coverage do not establish every person’s current work, location, relationships or level of contact with Rockelle. A partial roster or an old social-media profile is not enough to fill those gaps.

Parade’s overview of Piper Rockelle and the group provides selected biographical context and a partial roster, not a definitive update on every plaintiff. The most accurate answer is therefore that some former members have shared accounts of their experiences, while individual current circumstances for all 11 have not been established in the reporting cited here.

What the documentary can—and cannot—tell viewers

  • It offers later public recollections. Former members and families describe their experiences in their own words.
  • It is not a court ruling. Documentary interviews do not determine whether disputed allegations are legally proven.
  • It is not a complete whereabouts report. Participation by some former members does not provide a verified update on every plaintiff.
