“Bart’s Brain,” the Season 35 finale of The Simpsons, closes with a farewell that unmistakably recalls Furious 7: Bart skateboards alongside the brain in a jar as “See You Again” plays. The scene turns an unexpected Fast & Furious allusion into the emotional payoff of Bart’s attachment to his unlikely friend.
How Bart’s attachment to the brain begins
Bart first gets a human brain in a jar to use as a prank prop. But after he is assigned to care for it, the joke gives way to affection: he names the brain Buddy and becomes attached. His family and the town grow concerned about what that bond means for him.
Then a label on the jar reveals that the brain belonged to a real person. Bart returns it to Springfield University, bringing his relationship with Buddy to an end. The farewell is not simply another gag: it gives weight to the care Bart has developed for someone—or something—beyond the prank.
Why the ending recalls Furious 7
In the closing sequence, Bart rides alongside the departing brain on a skateboard while “See You Again” plays. That pairing of a traveling farewell and the song evokes the end of Furious 7, in which Brian O’Conner and Dom Toretto drive together before taking separate roads. The film’s scene serves as a farewell to Brian and to Paul Walker.
