The Secret Music Documentary Society is a monthly, in-person music-documentary screening series at Best Video Film & Cultural Center in Hamden, Connecticut. The venue’s event listing names Gorman Bechard and Dean Falcone as hosts and describes the films as underseen or unknown. Because screening titles and logistics can vary by date, check the specific Best Video listing before you go.
What happens at a Secret Music Documentary Society screening?
Best Video describes the series as a chance to see a hand-selected music documentary that may be underseen or unfamiliar. The idea is discovery: the film can focus on a band or musician an attendee does not already know. In a January 2025 interview with CT Insider, Gorman Bechard said the audience might see a film about a band they do not know—or even like—but could still be entertained by its story.
That 2025 coverage says the title was not disclosed in advance and that discussion followed the screening. Treat the surprise-title format as a description of the series at that time; check the event listing for the date you plan to attend if knowing the film beforehand matters to you.
Who hosts the series?
Credits differ across the available descriptions, so they should not be collapsed into a single interchangeable host list. Best Video’s event listing names Gorman Bechard and Dean Falcone. Earlier coverage by CT Insider and Midbrow identifies filmmaker/editor Faith Marek alongside Bechard as a founder or collaborator. For a particular screening, use the names on that event’s current venue listing.

Where is Best Video, and what are the event details?
The venue is Best Video Film & Cultural Center, 1842 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06517. One dated Best Video listing specifies doors at 6 p.m., with beer and pizza available, and a 7 p.m. film start. It lists admission at $10, or $20 for admission with pizza and a drink. Those are terms for that listing, not guaranteed prices, food options, or times for future events.

How to check an upcoming screening
- Find the event on Best Video Film & Cultural Center’s event listing.
- Confirm the date, doors and film-start times, ticket price, and any food or drink package on that specific listing.
- Check whether the documentary title is disclosed and which hosts are named for that event.
- If a third-party calendar gives different information, verify it with Best Video. A CT Examiner entry for October 25, 2026 lists a 6:30–9:30 p.m. window, which differs from the 6 p.m. doors and 7 p.m. start described on the venue listing; the venue is the better source for current event terms.
