What to remember from the season so far
Amazon’s Season 2 guide places the story in Middle-earth’s Second Age, after the forging of the three Elven rings and Sauron’s return. At the end of Season 1, Halbrand was revealed to be Sauron. In the new season, he takes the name Annatar, presents himself as a divine emissary, and works to manipulate the Elven smith Celebrimbor into making more rings.
The rings and Sauron’s scheme
The Elven leaders have already used mithril to forge three rings. Sauron’s effort to influence Celebrimbor is the next part of his larger plan, and the official Episode 6 synopsis says that his plans bear fruit. Galadriel’s response to a proposition belongs in this context: she is still reckoning with Sauron’s deception.

The other storylines
The episode synopsis also says Elendil faces judgment and that the Stranger reaches a crossroads. Those descriptions signal pressure on both characters, but they do not spell out the full developments in their plots. The Stranger’s identity and purpose remain an active question in the season.
Do you need to watch the earlier episodes first?
Amazon says the series can be watched without having read Tolkien’s books or seen the film adaptations. Familiarity with the books or films may help viewers notice references, but it is not a prerequisite. For Episode 6, the most useful context is the Season 1 reveal about Halbrand and the Season 2 focus on Sauron’s attempt to shape the making of more rings.
