Why does Veldt need defending?
Veldt is a peaceful farming settlement on a distant moon. Its people come under threat from the Motherworld’s forces, whose coercion and violence put their home and way of life at risk. That danger turns a local crisis into a fight against the power Kora once served.

Kora has crash-landed on the moon and begun a new life among the farmers. She is a former Motherworld soldier trying to leave her past behind. When Veldt is threatened, she is drawn back into fighting—not for the Motherworld, but to help protect the settlement.
Who joins Kora and Gunnar?
Kora and Gunnar leave Veldt to recruit fighters willing to help defend it. The people they gather come from different backgrounds, and the film’s central challenge is not just assembling them, but getting them to trust one another and fight as a group.

Jimmy is an ancient mechanized protector who awakens on Veldt with a new purpose. His return adds another defender to the settlement’s cause and signals that the fight involves more than the people Kora recruits on her journey.

How does Part One set up The Scargiver?
The first film’s main arc is the gathering of Veldt’s defenders: Kora and Gunnar seek help, the recruited fighters come together, and the group faces the need to act as one against the Motherworld’s forces. The Scargiver continues that larger conflict, following Kora and the gathered warriors as they prepare for the struggle ahead.

Should you rewatch the first film or read a recap?
A recap is enough if you mainly need the character names and the basic setup: Veldt is threatened, Kora returns to fighting, and she and Gunnar assemble allies. Rewatch Part One if you want to revisit how the group forms and experience the story’s scenes and action again. Either way, the essential bridge into Part Two is the defense force Kora has gathered.
