Spoilers for Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The character is Bronwyn: Arondir tells Isildur in Season 2, Episode 3 that she died after her Orc-arrow wound proved fatal. The episode also shows her funeral, according to Collider’s September 2, 2024 recap.
What happened to Bronwyn?
Bronwyn’s death follows an injury she suffered during the battle in Season 1, Episode 6, “Udûn.” An Orc arrow struck her shoulder, and Arondir caught her as she fell. Before the battle, the two had planted alfirin seeds together, part of an Elven tradition associated with “new life in defiance of death.”
Arondir later used the seeds in an attempt to treat her wound, believing he had removed the arrow’s “foulness.” But the injury’s damage was fatal. In Season 2, Episode 3, Arondir tells Isildur that Bronwyn succumbed to the wound; Collider’s recap also reports that her funeral is shown. These plot details are reported by Collider.
How her death affects Arondir and Theo
Bronwyn was Theo’s mother and Arondir’s beloved. Her death leaves both grieving, and the loss contributes to tension between Arondir and Theo.

Why did Nazanin Boniadi leave the series?
Bronwyn’s death in the story is distinct from actor Nazanin Boniadi’s departure from The Rings of Power. Collider reported that Boniadi announced in May 2024 that she had chosen to step away from Season 2. The article also reported that she had stepped away from acting in September 2022 to focus on advocacy connected to Iran’s Woman, Life, Freedom movement, but Boniadi clarified that her decision to leave the show was unrelated to that later advocacy decision.
The exact reason Boniadi left the series is not established by that reporting. Her comments about advocacy should not be treated as the confirmed explanation for her departure. In the Collider article, Boniadi described her connection to Bronwyn this way: “Throughout my career, the values I have held most dear are honesty, empathy and integrity. My character Bronwyn was committed to these same ideals in striving for a fairer world, which is why I connected so deeply with her.”
