In Russell Murray’s September 28, 2026 ranking, Aquaman comes first if control of Atlantis’s resources counts as wealth; Bruce Wayne leads the list’s personal-asset figures with a reported $100 billion in liquid assets. Those are different measures, not a clean comparison of personal net worth. The ranking mixes story-specific figures, outside estimates and the author’s own interpretations, so the order is best read as an attributed snapshot—not an official DC accounting.
How to read this wealth ranking
The figures and order below are those reported by Russell Murray in SlashFilm’s September 28, 2026 ranking. DC’s official character profiles establish that Batman and Lex Luthor are wealthy, but do not verify the dollar amounts here.
- Personal assets belong to an individual; liquid assets are narrower than total net worth.
- Corporate value is not automatically an owner’s personal fortune.
- Sovereign resources controlled by a ruler are not the same as money personally owned.
- Canon-specific facts belong to particular stories and eras; outside estimates and author interpretations should remain labeled as such.
This distinction matters most at the top: Murray’s Aquaman estimate counts Atlantis’s resources, while his Bruce Wayne figure is described as liquid assets. The figures should not be read as if they came from the same balance sheet.
The richest DC characters, in the reported ranking
-
Arthur Curry / Aquaman — “hundreds of trillions”
Murray places Aquaman first by treating his rule over Atlantis as control of vast resources, advanced technology and treasure. This is speculative sovereign-resource reasoning, not a canonical statement of Aquaman’s personal fortune.

-
Bruce Wayne / Batman — $100 billion in liquid assets
Murray reports this as a figure associated with the 2020 Joker War storyline, and specifies that it is liquid assets rather than Bruce’s full net worth. His suggestion that businesses, investments, property and equipment could raise the total is his own speculation, not an established comprehensive valuation. DC’s official Batman profile calls his wealth “inexhaustible” but gives no number.
-
Lex Luthor — $75 billion
Murray describes this as a commonly attributed estimate, apparently tracing to a study of wealthy villains in film and television. DC describes Luthor as a self-made industrialist and LexCorp CEO with massive wealth, but its official profile assigns no dollar value.
-
Oliver Queen / Green Arrow — $7 billion
Murray relays estimates from financial blogs. Queen Industries has changed in scale and purpose across stories, so the amount is not a stable canon figure.

Murray’s estimate draws on Booster Gold’s businesses and sponsorship income.

Roman Sionis / Black Mask — $500 million at the criminal empire’s peak
Murray says the 2019 Year of the Villain story gives this value for Sionis’s criminal empire at its peak. It is not necessarily his personal net worth or current wealth.
-
Niles Caulder — $100 million to $500 million
Murray estimates this range from Caulder’s ability to fund the Doom Patrol and its support. It is not an official DC valuation.
What DC’s canon does—and does not—establish
DC’s profiles support the broad picture of Batman and Lex Luthor as wealthy characters, not the ranking’s exact sums. A 2021 DC article on Batman’s finances notes that Bruce’s wealth “has been exaggerated over time” and describes stories in which he lost much of his fortune, could not afford elite fundraisers and operated Batman on a budget. His financial standing therefore changes with the era and continuity being discussed.
For Luthor, DC’s description of a wealthy industrialist and LexCorp CEO is character context, not a valuation. Likewise, company ownership, a character’s business role, or control of a kingdom’s resources does not by itself establish the amount of personal wealth a character could spend.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWho is richest if you mean personal wealth?
There is no single answer supported by a consistent, official DC dataset. In Murray’s list, Bruce Wayne has the clearest stated personal-asset figure near the top: $100 billion in liquid assets, attributed to the Joker War storyline. Even that figure is presented through Murray’s account, not a forensic audit of every version of Bruce Wayne.
Aquaman ranks first only under a broader definition that counts resources associated with his rule over Atlantis. Lex Luthor and Oliver Queen follow with estimates attributed to outside coverage, while most other entries rely on inference, continuity-specific businesses or story details. The order is useful as a guide to how these characters are commonly portrayed, but not as a precise, canon-wide comparison of personal net worth.
