Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile is a 20-minute satirical mockumentary from The Onion, not a factual documentary about Epstein’s crimes or death. WIRED reported in September 2025 that the film was planned for a one-day theatrical screening followed by online availability; that report does not confirm where, or whether, it can be watched now.
What is The Onion’s Epstein mockumentary?
Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile is a 20-minute satire that borrows the form of a biopic and true-crime investigation. WIRED described it as a parody of familiar documentary devices, including talking-head interviews, ominous audio, and claims framed as revelations.

The distinction matters: its invented material is the joke, not evidence. WIRED’s account describes a fake voicemail from Epstein to Donald Trump, a fictional “pedophile expert,” and fabricated audio depicting a Justice Department official speaking to Ghislaine Maxwell. The movie also plays with a fictional Deep State plot and a supposed government-sanctioned assassination. Those are satirical inventions, not substantiated claims about the people or institutions shown.
WIRED notes that Epstein died in prison in 2019 and that his death was officially ruled a suicide. The film’s insinuations of murder or a government cover-up should be understood as part of its satire, not as proof that either occurred.

Why did The Onion make it?
In WIRED’s September 25, 2025 report, Onion CEO Ben Collins tied the project to the summer’s political discussion of Epstein. He said the writers saw “a big gap where information should be” and thought “it would be very funny to fill it with complete fucking nonsense.” That explanation captures the film’s method: it turns the conventions of serious-sounding investigations into a vehicle for absurdity rather than offering new reporting on the case.
Collins told WIRED the project came together in six weeks. He also described The Onion’s broader editorial posture: “In the last year, we’ve been able to say a lot of stuff that other places are afraid to say. We’re going to keep doing it.”

Where can you watch Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile?
Current viewing access is not established by the available report. WIRED said The Onion planned a one-day screening for October 2, 2025, in New York City, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, with online availability intended afterward. That was a release plan reported before the date, not confirmation of a current streaming service, rental, purchase option, or screening.
If you are looking for it now, check The Onion’s official channels or a current listing from a legitimate distributor. Confirm that the listing is for Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile, rather than unrelated Epstein coverage. No specific present-day platform or territory can be confirmed from WIRED’s report.

What happened to the planned release?
The release plan changed after a theater company that had been expected to launch the film nationally withdrew. Collins told WIRED that the company pulled out after Charlie Kirk’s death, leaving The Onion to seek an alternative distribution plan. WIRED’s report records that effort but does not establish what ultimately happened to online distribution.
The film’s reported line about “over 34,689,652 minutes” of missing footage is another example of the satire’s deliberate absurdity; it is not a real statistic about missing evidence.

What to know before watching
- It is satire, not investigative reporting. The mock interviews, audio, expert, and institutional plotlines described by WIRED are fabricated comic devices.
- Its subject matter is real, but its inventions are not evidence. Keep the film’s claims separate from documented facts about Epstein and his death.
- The 2025 release information is historical. A planned theatrical date and later online release do not establish current availability.
