Who is Discord?
Discord is the sequel’s principal new antagonist. Her conflict with Andy is built around a disagreement about whether humanity is worth protecting. This gives the film a more philosophical conflict than a straightforward heroes-versus-villain setup. Andy and Discord are both shaped by their long lives, but they respond to that experience differently. Their confrontation therefore tests Andy’s identity at a time when she has lost the power that once defined her.

Quynh is not simply a returning familiar face. In the first film’s mythology, she endured centuries trapped in an iron box beneath the water. Her return brings the consequences of that suffering directly into the present-day story.
Quynh has to re-enter a world that has changed dramatically during her absence, while the people connected to her have also changed. Her history with Andy gives the sequel an emotional conflict separate from its broader investigation into immortal origins. The film uses Quynh’s return to ask what survival means after prolonged abuse, isolation and betrayal.
